The cruelest President who ever lived.
Edited on Wed Jul-19-06 06:40 AM by DanCa
Hope is such a fragile, fleeting thing isn't it? Yesterday afternoon congress gave hope to thousands of Americans by passing the H.R. 810 stem cell enhancement bill.
People went to sleep knowing that their might be relief to their suffering. Parents went to bed with the hope of their children's pain being eliminated. People...no I...went to bed with the hope of knowing that I might be able to get off of "welfare" and start living a life of productivity.

Yesterday after noon congress gave me hope.
This after noon, the President is expected to veto H.R. 810 and slam shut the window of hope that I experienced. And the hope that thousands of Americans experienced will be washed away forever by a mere pen stroke.

How can anyone put sick people through this and not be considered a monster? How can anyone put people through this and still be considered a Christian? How can anyone put people through this and still be considered human? How can anyone put people through this and still be considered a man?

If the President goes through with this veto I will at least have the comfort in knowing that President bystander's claim to be "religious" is a sham. And that he's facade would be revealed before the whole world.

To me he is no longer the worst President in history. He is simply the cruelest President who ever lived.

"Parents went to bed with the hope of their children's pain being elevated."

You might want to change that to ELIMINATED. One word can make a world of difference in what you are trying to say. :hi:

53. Bush is the worst president this country has ever had, but
the Hitler comparisons are bizarre and pointless. They also trivialize the death and destruction that Hitler caused.

(Sorry to sound judgemental on this, but that's just the way I see it.)

3. The difference being, perhaps,
that slavery had existed for millenia as did child labor, and no one thought it was "bad"; stem cell research has started and shown promise, and Bush is quashing it-to my mind, that is more cruel than perpetuating bad institutions that had been around for a long time.

60. What you said!
It is far more cruel. I see this as comparing apples to oranges, really. Slavery and child labor, while terrible things, had been around for a long time. Today, we know how cruel those things were, but back then, well, I wasn't there, I admit, but I am thinking it was somewhat accepted by many as being okay. Sort of like some people today think it's ok to see gay people as less than human, and try to take basic civil rights from them.

This pResident has inflicted more cruelty on us and on the world, than I could ever have imagined a United States President could inflict, and today, he took away HOPE for millions of Americans, because of politics. In my mind, he is by far the cruelest - he is an evil little man, who cares nothing for anyone else. And I hesitate to use the word "man".

Bush has invented a new way to be cruel.

I'd also consider starting an illegal war as cruel. And ignoring danger signs so 9/11 could happen--then campaigning on his giant failure.

Anyway, the congresswoman said that they didn't pass the bill with enough votes to make it veto proof. But she is not concerned - she will add it as an amendment to other bills that have to be passed - like appropriations.

He's benefited from good press for almost a hundred years, but we're taking a second look. He instituted programs that perfectly match Bush's attacks on personal freedoms and was preparing to enter WWI even as he campaigned on a Peace platform. What he did to reinforce Jim Crow is something we're still recovering from.

The brain-dead Chimp may veto this bill, but stem-cell reasearch goes on in many other countries around the world, including mine. In fact, in the field of stem cell reasearch, the US is lagging far behind other countries. And biotech companies are recognizing this and are funding projects in countries such a the UK.

Here's a good article from 2004 on the "debate" on stem cell reasearch.

I have MS but I think just as much hope lies in adult stem cell research. In fact, I am MORE optimistic about it.

He isn't STOPPING the embryonic research, private companies and the drug industry can do as much research as they want to. There are thousands of cell lines from fertility clinics donated to them everyday.

Not fair to act like he is saying NO to others in this country, he didn't.

He has plenty of faults but the research can go on (even though I think it won't likely pan out).
The drug that controls my MS was not found by the Federal government but by a drug company. That's why meds are so high, they do expensive research.

67. LA lady, I'm sorry about your MS. But not STOPPING is not good enough.
Federal funds primarily go to the universities to drive basic research. The ability to obtain a federal research grant
would make a huge difference in the RATE that it would get done. In addition, the best and brightest would move
toward research that would allow them to fund their laboratories.

Trust me I have lobbied against such bills. Adult research is more effective than embryonic research? Not according to all the researcher that I've read and the doctors and scientist that i've talked to. Do you homework and visit a stem cell lab please. You have a drug that works for your system that's great.

I am happy for you. I want my symptons to be "GONE"!!! Not to mention that they have terrible side effects. And we could have had a less expensive drugs if people knew how to vote in this country. Just ask any senior about his perscription drug plan. And by signing a veto to outlaw this bill he is saying no to everyone that's sick.

Now the question remains why should someone suffer because of someone elses religious belief's? The answer is beyond me. And may I please have a link to were these thousands of stem cell lines may be? I am sure Dr Cady would like to know where he can get more cell lines.

51. And now
His veto goes to a house over ride vote. They just love pouring salt in the wounds.

52. Showing his true colors. Anyone who would consider calling him/herself
a republican these days knowing what they stand for, is despicable.

56. You're welcome
Hope you're doing better physically these days. Or, if not now, in the future.

57. He's the cruelest and the worst.
This has been a really bad day for America. I don't know when I've been madder. The icing on the cake was his exploitation of the so-called "snowflake" babies. What about the snowflakes in the trash with the medical waste? Why can't you have both babies and medical research? Grrrrrrr. I'm especially feeling bad for you, DanCa. Is there any way you can connect with foreign research?

Republican Party.

He's such a fucking hypocrite too. The bastard. He aint a vegan. Nor is he anti-death penalty so he has ABSOLUTELY NO RIGHT to talk about how "life is scared". His precious little war has killed over 10,000 people (military and civilian..i think I'm right, correct me if i'm not).

I can't believe him. I hope he gets Alzheimer's and see how it feels. Then he'll start to pray that he didn't veto that damn bill.....

76. I hate to disagree
but I don't see much that indicates prayerfulness from this creature. What need does the antichrist have to pray to anyone or anything? Actually, I don't believe in such things anymore, but if I did, Bush and Cheney would be vying for that title with their stupid, stupid sheep happily bleating along to hell in a handbasket.
