House Hearing on Voting Machines Standards today at 2:00 pm
From the C-Span web-site:

The House Administration Committee and the House Science Committee hold a joint hearing to review new federal voluntary standards for voting equipment, which were issued late last year, to see if they are likely to improve the accuracy and security of voting, and to see if states are likely to adopt the standards.

1. "federal voluntary standards "??? What good would it be to have
voluntary standards? We need the federal government to set the standards to override all the stupid laws the states have passed!

2. No good that I can think of.
That's why I'll watch this today. The Repubs can go through everything that could go wrong and then ask for people to play nice and be upstanding citizens and volunteer to not let things go wrong. Sigh!

I believe the voluntary standards are in this document: http://www.eac.gov/VVSG%20Volume_I.pdf

Go to the Appendices and see what the standards being talked about are all about.
