How would you solve the cycle of violence now spiralling out of control among our brothers and sisters in Israel & Lebanon? Their strict father is out of his mind, lashing out in his anger and hurting innocents. We have to have an intervention. How should it go?

between those who angrily support Israel and those who angrily support Lebanon/Hezbollah.

I mean, no matter what you say - you're going to get jumped on by one side or the other - so you're much better off picking a SIDE so you'll have someone to watch your back when the real fighting starts.

3. First, go in with a UN force to push the squabbling children

apart. Send them to their corners for the equivalent of an hour to think about things. Take away their toys (institute sanctions) until they are ready to talk to each other like civilized children who have been taught some manners. Referee the discussion. Let the bigger kid know that bullying the littler kid will not be tolerated. Let the littler kid know that tweaking the bully's nose will not be tolerated.

Treating the combatants as adults is out. They have never behaved as such.

I'd also include in that room, anyone and everyone who is selling "arms" to the kids. I'd inform them, in no uncertain terms and in front of the children, they will not be allowed to sell their "crack" to the kiddies any longer and any attempts to do so will result in their being put in a permanent "time out."

We "de-armed" Japan after WWII - looks like it needs to be practiced elsewhere.

Of course we'd carry more weight of our convictions if we weren't the ones providing the arms in the first freaking place!
