Just wondering when the Arab street will rise up against their leaders
for not doing more to help the Lebanese people? From what I hear from a neighbor's son who recently returned from Saudi Arabia, the royal family is despised and there are lots of undercurrents about what is happening in Iraq.

9. So why should you expect their results to be much different?
And furthermore, why is it you assume no Arabs do so? Obviously, someone could look at our country and charge that no one is standing up to Bush, yet you claim to have done so.

6. Yeah, where's the stampede on Main Street, USA?
Democracy is not a spectator sport, is it? ;)

5. Why are they the only ones who need to do something?
Just curious here, but where is it written that only Arabs have to help Arabs?

And furthermore, where do you stand on Darfur? Do you think only other African countries should be doing something to help them out? Are you criticizing neighboring African nations for not doing anything?

This sounds more than a wee bit racist to me.

10. Been criticizing not helping Africa for decades. Been in protests,
in jail and sent money. Getting old now but was very active in the anti-apartheid movement. What about you?

11. That wasn't my question.
Are you or are you not criticizing neighboring African nations to help out the people of Darfur?

12. Of course, but whether or not i have criticized any situation does not
invalidate my original conjecture. I am still wondering and nothing anyone says here will or can stop me from "wondering."

14. I don't think we'd like the result.
The current set of idiots are better than the idiots we'd get, I'm afraid.

Even in Lebanon, they got rid of a strong puppet government in favor of La Signora's sockpile.

I used to like the idea of Arab democracies as a theory, but then somebody produced some testable hypotheses. I'm seriously reconsidering the validity of the theory, and beginning to wonder why I ignored 1000 years of history.

Ah, I know why, silly me. Because the history was partial to protect the honor of the guilty.
