Has Bush entered "I just don't give a sh-t anymore" mode? |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-19-06 01:38 PM by Armstead
Considering the vast majority of people -- including conservatives-- who support stem cell research, does Bush's veto mean he has entered the "I don't give a shit because I'm not running again, so I'll do whatever the hell I want" mode?
The signs are there. They seem no longer interested in political positions, actual result policy or pursuing anything. Just reacting day to day, based on the whims of the moment.
Stem cell research isn't a partisan issue. Even many right-wing, GOP fundies support it.The fanatics on the fringes of the pro-life side are the only ones who he's appealing to, while alienating everyone else.
They're not even making the pretense of promoting their policies through salesmanshipo and spin. They just do whatever, regardless of the reaction or consequences.
He's not even making a pretense of trying to be an honest broker in the Israel-Lebanon war. Just letting them shoot it out with nary a peep. Seems like if he was thinking ahead, he'd be doing what Clinton tried to do, and work his butt off to at least try to leave that situation better than when he became president.
Iraq? Seems like he's done tryuing to sell that little disaster to the American people. Just "Take it or leave it."
His foreign policy is aimless. No more "We're gettin the bad guys, Democracy is on the March" neo-con rhetoric. Bad as that was, at least it was consistent. Now they're just stumbling along day to day, to the frustration of liberals and conservatives alike.
It just seems like the administration neither cares about its legacy nor is trying to promote any real agenda, good, bad or indifferent.
It was bad before when they were pushing an agenda. But maybe it's worse that they are now just muddling through, not caring whether or not they jump the shark.

19. He considers himself a GREAT LEADER |
|
and it's up to the rest of us to get into a nice, straight line and follow because he's absolutely right about absolutely everything.
See why I say I despise leaders? Give me a muddler.

This fucking guy has never given a shit about anything. We all remember that pre-9/11 this bastard was down hanging on his ranch like 30-40% of the time. He's never done anything that didn't have to do with destroying people's lives - both his own people's and anyone else upon whom he can project the harsh darkness that dwells in his heart and soul.

The Resident Malaprop has never cared...he has an agenda and anything outside that agenda doesn't even register with him. And the "good of America" is way outside that agenda.

21. Ah....Maybe that's because he basically got everything he wanted |
|
in terms of money stolen from American coffers to fill his cronies pockets(and his through his father's)..laws in place that will prevent his cronies from facing justice(privater contractors in Iraq - Afghanistan)...and laws in place that will continue to make his cronies money even after he leaves office
Now it's just time to kiss the base...

23. You could be right -- Maybe he has already passed "Mission Accomplished" |
|
As gas leaves $3 a gal behind on it's relentless journey upward, Bush can rest easy that his cronies are at least happy.
Maybe having sold the country to his buddies and otehr high bidders, he feels like his job is done and he just has to bide time until he can retire.

26. Look at the GOP Congress members that are distancing themselves |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-19-06 01:56 PM by Solly Mack
lately - quite vocally - from Bush
Bush gets all the blame...to include blame for these Congress members refusal to do their job...Specter makes everything Bush has done legal...Bush walks... congress critters get a pass for not using the checks and balances to stop Bush... because it's Bush's fault anyway.
Bush leaves office a much wealtheir man than when he entered office... as does Cheney and their cronies.
That could be one kind of mission accomplished...

He'll end up in a long slow slide into total alcoholism, quietly beyond the public glare, sobering up occasionally to attend some stupid event. All on the taxpayers dole of course.

5. I'm not sure that he.. |

.. was ever out of it, but yeah, there's not even a slight pretense about it any more.
This is a rogue government and media run rampant with what should be totally intolerable behavior and rhetoric... with Bush as the extreme example of utter embarrassment, shame, and horror.
Not in my name.

Stem cell research is so narrowly opposed that it does the GOP more harm than good to be on the wrong side on this one.
That's what I mean.
