Alcoholics who start drinking decompensate very quickly and out of proportion to the amount of alcohol consumed. I'm sure Putin was alarmed by the quick change in behavior on relatively little alcohol.

Untreated drunks are scary as hell.

do you think someone somewhere would smell it and say something, or do you think he's got a new drug? I can't imagine that if he is shit-faced like he acts, that it wouldn't be really obvious to the people in the vacinity. Does he travel with a doctor like JFK and Jackie used to? If you look at his face when he was groping the German Chancellor, it it absolutely obvious he's on something.
