I wonder who wrote this? Maybe we could look in other documents to find a person who capitalizes nation.

2. Hmmmmm
. . . we can harnass the promise of technology without becoming slaves to technology and ensure that science serves the cause of humanity."

Sounds like a 1960s science fiction movie line, but i'm not sure.

10. Are they against the research or the harvesting?
In the case of tracking who we call, the Bush administration evades the law by hiring a private company to maintain a call database. I've seen this pattern in multiple areas. If the government can't do it, they pay somebody else to do it for them.

Can we do that here? I know that in Bush's stem cell speech a couple years ago he limited research to a specific set of stem cell lines, but is there any legal basis to it? Why not have a private company gather and setup stem cell lines and then sell them to federally funded researchers?

I already know the answer why this won't happen, but thought it was interesting that the administration is willing to find a way to avoid some laws (illegally most likely) but not others. At least this way it would have the added bonus (in Bush's world) of shifting money from the government to private hands.

Tony Snow alluded to it a little bit today when he said that stem cell research is not illegal and that for some it will be a way to make money.
