1. Fantasic interview. Please take a listen. Carter is a very wise man.
What he thinks America needs in leadership: honesty and integrity, someone who will tell the truth to the
American people.

He is very worried about the country losing the values it was founded on.

5. Thanks for this
Sometime ago I posted Carter's famous Crisis of Confidence speech - his Malaise speech but there were few responses. I love Carter.

6. Carter
was not devious or deceptive, and didn't pretend to be anyone he was not. He didn't have to pretend to be something he wasn't. He was the best man to hold the job in many, many years. His mind is still sharp, and his ehtics have not changed. He treated the people of this country as true equals, and citizens. That hasn't happened very often.

I too, absolutely love Jimmy Carter.

and will have a look at other speeches.
We are at a turning point in our history. There are two paths to choose. One is a path I've warned about tonight, the path that leads to fragmentation and self-interest. Down that road lies a mistaken idea of freedom, the right to grasp for ourselves some advantage over others. That path would be one of constant conflict between narrow interests ending in chaos and immobility. It is a certain route to failure.
Profound words.

Reagan and the oil men chose the other path, attacked him non-stop and overturned his oil policies. Imagine if they had listened to Carter re energy in 1979. 27 years later the US is bombing out the ME for said oil. Special interests now completely control congress and it's all about self interest.

Carter was the last honest President in the US.

I'd love someone to ask him about his oil policies versus the path Reagan et al took with deregulation, SUVs v public transportation, etc.
Edit -add.

10. Former President Carter is the best America offers as opposed to
bush, who, imo, is the worst.
