Here is what the Bible says about Lebanon
a passage, and a warning, that seems quite appropriate for what is happening today:

Habakkuk 2:17 (New International Version)

17 The violence you have done to Lebanon will overwhelm you,
and your destruction of animals will terrify you.
For you have shed man's blood;
you have destroyed lands and cities and everyone in them.

1. There are lots of warning in the Hebrew Bible against this kind of
aggression. My favorite is the law of proportionality--"an eye for an eye"--which was intended to prevent escalation of aggression. Or the quote in Psalms which says "Put not your trust in war horses".

But apparently "God gave us this land, so there!" trumps 'em all.
