Is Hillary a Democratic stalking horse?
Corporate media keep "bill"ing her (no pun intended despite those telltale quote marks, of course) as the leading candidate. Maybe her whole purpose out there is to draw the fire and vitriol of all the "liberal" commentators, keeping Rush & co. all forthed up about something that s not going to happen. In the meantime, Al Gore goes around doing his Not Running For Anything act while letting the public learn what a real and passionate human being, witty guy and all-around smart, likeable person he is. Then at the last minute Hillary really falters & a clamor arises from the hinterlands--"Give us Al, give us Al," and Gore magically appears on his white horse, which he proceeds to ride all the way to the White House.

Now, I ask ya--are the Dems smart enough to think of something like this? Howard Dean sure is. Is Hillary selfless enough to go along with it? Probly not--but maybe that doesn't matter. She could end up playing her role quite all unwitting of how she fits into the Grand Scheme, and end up in July 2008 wondering what the hell happened.

6. It is a possibility
I've thought that for a long time.
She's said on many occasions that she hasn't thought about it yet, then she stops saying that and the right wing goes nuts!
I think she'll keep her mouth shut until the last minute either way.

let the nutjobs foam at the mouth about Hillary, she wont win the Dem Nomination anyway, but she would make a great VP

3. imaginative theory
the truth is probably much more ordinary than that, imo. She's just another candidate.

4. Who would take the fall so someone else could become president?
Unless there are pictures somewhere... Nah, she's a Clinton, she'd just wack whoever had the pictures...

Nope. Hillary's running, and unless Gore gets in, get ready for the next President Clinton. First female president: It's fate, it's Karma, it's destiny, it's a runaway freighttrain (and her fundraisig edge doesn't hurt, either!)

And don't worry, she's liberal, she's just being smeared by terrified Republicans and poor duped Dems at the moment.

9. She needn't be a willing participant in her own fall.
And I'm not particularly trashing her in this thread, despite what some people seem to have read into my comments. But by being out in front early, or even just perceived by the media to be out in front, she's gonna take a lot of hits. Early front runners generally don't generally make it to the nomination. Not unless they're George Bush, anyway. Right now Hillary is the presumptive nominee according to those media guys who always seem to (think they) know better than the rest of us.

Actually this line of thought was started by another thread where t was suggested that the Puggies are planning to run Romney & are keeping him below the radar, letting McCain & Rudy take all the flak until very late in the election season, when they'll spring Mitt as a big-surprise dark horse & grease the skids for him all the way into the nomination.

10. Still, no one plans that firmly this early on
I'm sure the brain trust has come up with a hundred twists and complications based on how the media reacts to Clinton, Gore, Dean, Biden, Clark, and everyone else, and I'm sure everyone EXCEPT Clinton is plotting to take advantage of her fall, but I don't think there's any vast left-wing conspiracy.

As for why the media is picking her this early, it's not some dastardly scheme, it's because she's running. She's already building her network, and doing the early campaign dance, and she's clearly the big name with the big dollars. Same with Bush and Gore in 98, Kerry in 2002 (he began much earlier).

When you run for president, you set up your network early, you make contacts, you send out feelers. There's a dance. The media sees this, but since the candidate hasn't announced they are running, and can still change their minds, the media doesn't say they are running. They talk about the "presumptive candidate," and phrases like that. But they know. That's the reason they are talking about Clinton.

5. Just another dump on Hillary thread on a boring night
Today, a whole lot of people died across the ocean while we are safe in our beds, so lets drag out Hillary and use her to mop some dirt around.:sarcasm:

7. If so it's the Republicans that have made her that. BTW, I don't
think he's even going to run in '08.

8. So? I'm Crying No Tears For Hillary!
If she ends up wondering "what happened" that will make me very happy.

Don't get me wrong here, Hillary is one strong lady, but whoever or whatever is driving her right now is not doing her any favors. Lately, when I see her on my T.V., I turn the channel. There was once a time when I would have gone to bat for her, over-looked the fact that she played dead when Mr. Bill was doing her thing, but now.... I DUN SINK SO!!!

Surprisingly, I still see the Bill attraction, he can WOW the crowd, I just wish he would WOW it in a more assertive way. Hillary has everything you could want as the first woman to win a presidency in America, but her decisions about so many issues have turned me off. Has the world changed so much? Maybe that IS what has been going on for me. I want to see a "people movement" not a "corporate movement" so I say NO NO Hillary!

Gore is the real deal, but I do feel he doesn't really want to run again. I think he's made his mark, proved his point and is genuine. I love Tipper too... this couple should be applauded!

So looking at my Avatar, and not being one who is very "moderate" I'm still rooting for John Edwards, and his wife Elizabeth excites me so much more than Hillary! I've talked to so many people who were not so warm about The Idiot, but were less warm about Kerry and they have told me that they really really could go for Edwards! Living in Florida, the south and how it's evolved... I think as Democrats we really should take a very close look at John. Sure he's Mr. Excitement, but inside he seems to have some real HEART! And Elizabeth is not only very intelligent, she is "mother earth" to so many people. This is one very very smart woman and would be an excellent example for so many "red-staters!" I don't think they are trying to pull a fast one, I think they truly care.

Having said all that.... I really wonder if we are going to be able to focus on the "quality of a person" having instead to focus on being "reactionary" because everything in America, or everything in our hemisphere is soooooooooo screwed up. If I was super religious I might be able to pray, but what I've seen of religion and it's escalation into our lives, I'll take a pass. I don't HOPE much anymore, I just WISH it were so much better.
