Elizabeth Smart smacks Nancy Grace
Nancy Grace really wanted to get into the dirty nitty-gritty, a real scoop that should jack up her ratings. Elizabeth Smart told Grace she didn't want to discuss the past, that she wanted to look forward. Grace asked her another question about it, and Elizabeth Smart said, "You know, I really don't appreciate you doing that."

But Nancy Grace slapped her back by putting on a psychologist on at the end of the program. The psychologist said some victims were so traumatized they couldn't talk about it.

So Elizabeth Smart couldn't possibly be exercising a choice of her own free will. No, there had to be something wrong with her if she didn't want to talk to NANCY GRACE!

Grace is such a bitch.

The episode will air again this Sunday.

1. Ugh. So nasty. I remember when she was found alive
my dad was SO angry and kept saying "All they want to know is the details: Was she raped? And then once they find out that she was, then they'll want to know all the sick details about it. They don't care about her."

I agreed with him, but it reminded me of just how sick these media whores can be.

25. Wanna hear something freaky? I SAW her right before they found her.
I was driving to the grocery store and passed them and thought "Wow, they sure stand out like a sore thumb here in Sandy Utah!". They had backpacks and were heading to the bus pick up. She had a ring of flowers in her hair and a kind of druggy smile. In retrospect it was her brainwashed smile, the poor thing. When they picked her up she was speaking in old English and still protecting her captors until the police convinced her that they knew who she was and that she was safe. I can only imagine the hell she went through.

31. Wow! Watch out, though....
If Nancy hears about it, she'll probably want to devote an hour to an exclusive interview with you.

3. The ill-named Nancy Grace should never have been hired in the
first place.

I didn't watch this program. But what little I've seen of Nancy Grace suggests to me that she is mostly humorless, plodding, and whiney.

She plays to the peanut gallery for maximum effect.

CNN ought to be ashamed of itself.

6. She appeared to promote her support of a national sex offender registry.
And I didn't even know either of her offenders were previous sex offenders.

10. They weren't!
Edited on Wed Jul-19-06 09:34 PM by madmusic
Orrin Hatch is using her:

"The man prosecutors say kidnapped Smart, Brian David Mitchell, did not have a prior record as a sex offender, and would not have been affected by the legislation."

17. Now I'm pissed
Grace said in her bitchy joking way that the reason the bill was held up was because someone tried to throw a free bridge in it. Orin Hatch refused to say what the holdup was other than saying states that already had strong laws didn't want the feds jumping on them.

Actually, the Democrats have some very good reasons to object to it:

Rep. Scott is only one example.

28. Her fiancee was murdered during a robbery in Atlanta, so CNN gave her
an hour to take out her anger on the entire planet.

I'm sorry for her loss and don't mean to sound callous, but she needs to get on with her life.

Or maybe she's milking the guy's untimely death for all it's worth to her. x(

11. What's with the over the top bad acting?
I saw her in one of those "true crime documentaries" recently and she was emoting all over the place. It was actually funny to see her theatrics. In some parts she seemed almost hysterical. Between her mugging for the camera and her inane comments, she kept me in stitches. You can't take her seriously, though.

12. Remember the handy man? The one they stressed out to death?
Why does no one mention him anymore?

Why are there no interviews with his wife?

Why haven't Smart's parents, media, and police publically apologized for dragging that man's name through the mud, and stressing him to the point of having a heart attack.

22. I hope there's a special place in hell for "victims' rights" nutjobs..
..nearly everyone I've seen fly under that banner has been a finger-pointing lunatic who doesn't realize the very freedoms we have center on protecting those accused of crime, not the other way around. Societies have always had sympathy for the victims: what makes one society just and another prone to barbarism is the careful protection of the rights of the accused so as to ensure, as much as possible, the guilty are justly punished and the falsely accused exonerated with a minimum of damage to their rights. Grace cares for none of this.

26.  Guilty or not, here she comes -- Nancy Grace brings mob justice to CNN
When reading Nancy Grace transcripts, keeping an eye out for improprieties, a color-coding system becomes a necessity.

Blue Post-It notes are good when the prosecutor-turned-legal-pundit makes an error or a wild exaggeration. Yellow can be used for each of Grace's gratuitously blunt questions for people whose loved ones have been killed. ("Tony, does your little girl have any recollection of the murder of her mom? Clearly she was there," she said on an April 15 show, probing the father of a young girl whose mother was killed. "The facts surrounding the discovery of the body were horrific, with your little girl clutching her mom's dead body.") And a separate color -- maybe salmon? -- is helpful every time she uses farm animal adages as a rush to judge someone yet to be convicted of any crime.

"You can't put perfume on a pig! ... If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it must be a duck! ... When you don't know a horse, look at his track record!"

....

Grace's mob-mentality panel discussions aren't illegal, or even especially unique. In picking Grace's show as the prime time centerpiece for Headline News, they're using the same hateful-language-attracts-viewers template that Bill O'Reilly has used to win the time period. But Grace's rants are even more dangerous, because they turn the simplest principles of our judicial system upside down.

people.

they asked her the typical things asked of others. one of them being "do you ever ask why this happened to you" ? she answered by saying that she didn't think it should happen to anyone. she also wants to move on rather than let her life get dragged down and all about that kidnapping.

the Chimpanzee could learn a lot from someone like her.

Nancy Grace gets more disgusting by the day. she made up the story concerning her fiancee's death. and now she is doing this to Elizabeth. she thinks all who survive something horrible should spend their lives pissing on others who had nothing to do with their own situation. and in turn she is hurting Elizabeth.

24. Nancy Grace is filth for what she did to Richard Ricci
If you recall, Ricci was the handyman of the Smart family. On her show, Grace said she was certain beyond doubt that Ricci was the one who abducted and killed Elizabeth Smart. She led a national charge to try and convict Ricci in the national media. Ricci was arrested on a technicality on evidence he himself offered up, as he knew he was innocent. Ricci spent 2 months in jail and, after 26 straight hours of stiff interrogation by the police, a blood clot in his brain killed him. Ricci died in jail, knowing he was an innocent man. Nancy Grace throughout was convinced he was an abductor and child killer, despite the alibi offered by Ricci's wife. When Grace was confronted with her unfair behavior after Elizabeth Smart was returned to her family, she publicly refused to even consider an apology on the air and she dumped on Ricci's wife for good measure, who kept her cool and dignity. I don't care what political party Nancy Grace votes for. She's scum to me.
