Poll question: How many posts have you deleted without posting in the last week? Why?
I have written, then rewritten, then deleted many many times this last week. Mostly because either the person/topic I am responding to would only get more flamey (out of misunderstanding or just to flame) or because I just don't care to participate, or don't care to continue the discussion that is going on. This is new for me because I usually think things through, then post what I write. Wondering how you all are doing as far as posting/deleting?

18. I respectfully disagree
Of course, maybe you won't see this because I am on your 'ignore' list.

Why cannot we have a healthy debate rather than covering our ears, squinching shut our eyes, and screeching 'nonononono'?

Open up. Keep your lamp trimmed and burnin'.

Tunnel vision is what it is.

I want to hear/see the opinions of those who disagree with me.
Who knows, they might be right.

I am not going to discount dissonant views.

19. Nothing I've ignored contained worthwhile discussions
It's not like I didn't read them first...I put them on ignore rather than to the type/delete/type/delete thing.

The threads I've put on ignore were rude, ugly and not the least bit productive. They had spiraled down to the point people were talking AT each other rather than talking WITH each other. There is a difference.

But your assumption that it's been a case of wishing to avoid views different from my own was very refreshing and so unlike those other threads.

24. I wasn't talking (typing?) about threads, I meant those who post.
See, just like that, we interpret things two different ways while reading the same page.

I was referring to DUers. I cannot imagine ignoring anyone's ideas or thoughts.

As far as threads I find ridiculous, I figure that is my opinion and my option to just go on.

I have yet to use my 'ignore' button. I prefer to keep my antennae up. You never know what might come up and kiss you right on the mouth or kick you right in the crotch.

Life is a quarry.
You can dig as deep as you want.

25. I was talking about threads. I don't ignore individuals
as a rule. That's why I said "ignore thread" maniac.

But the threads I did ignore ,and I don't normally even ignore threads, were horrible.

No real discussion.

14. Yeah, and it's very rare for me normally. Mostly over the ME.
I've disagreed with so much, and wanted to post, but every time I wrote something I just knew it wouldn't change anyone's mind, and I didn't want to just post to be posting. So I've cancelled a lot of posts. Interesting that others are doing this, too.

28. You responded to one of mine I wish I had deleted...
Look, I am against Israel's actions in this, but as a Jew I am feeling so attacked!

I grew up with rabid Anti-Semitism all around. I had pennies thrown at me, swastikas drawn on my locker, books, etc.

We were called "Christ-Killers", asked if we had horns, you name it.

I know how much Jew-hating there really is in this country first hand. So excuse me if I am overly sensitive and defensive.

29. Being called nasty names, prejudicially must just suck.
Seems like sometimes things said against a country's powers/rulers/military/policy is taken as being against the people, which is may not be. (may be in some cases, but not in many others) Sounds like you were with a nasty group of people and that sounds really tough.

21. I am an Aspie, i lack perception of social interaction, i have to reassess
to try to figure if what i post will be misunderstood. i say things literally and i see things visually, try to put that together... i put things together to perceive them and NT's 'Neurologically Traditional' people take them apart to understand them, i am analogical and most people are digital/logical thinkers. forums are useful tools to feel out what social interaction is.. you get a response, where in real life you dont always but there is one and i cant see it, that makes me paranoid... or at least uneasy. i dont get out much, and i cant spell and have no consept of syntax, i am a high functioning autistic. i have not perception of social interaction, i really dont know what is going on much of the time between people.. that makes it had to interact with them on the fly.. in forums i can take my time to interact and figure things out, if i get stressed i just freeze up like this damned Compaq Computer. i lose all words, i could draw a good picture if it, but i cant speak..i have to leave. my wife interperates for me as things go along in social situations. in my Buddhist Group they just thought i was some sort of sage. i was real quiet and and detached, when i did say something it was visual and they couldnt understand, so they thought it was something profound and deeply insightful. which made me more withdrawn..

i worry about things like describing the look on Bu$h's face when the Chancellor freaked out after he fondled her,.. i wrote that the look on his face when he took off was like his mother caught him jerking off on her panties in the laundry.. because i 'See' him as that sick and disturbed a person, always hiding some shameful thing.. but maybe that isn't so socially acceptable. but you really need to check out the look on his face..

he is so transparent..so devious a naughty child, so perverted and dangerous an adult. i about craped my pants when he said he wasn't ruling out using 'newculure' weapons on Iran... i feel bad about praying he lands the hard way every time he flys somewhere.. but dear gOD we need some sort of F'n Miracle to get rid of him and his Rat B*stard handlers. Time is short, before the whole world collapses into a dark financial desperate depression or world war. the guy doesn't have an F'n clue about what he is doing or the consequences or just doesn't care.. and they call me learning disabled..i haven't bounced a check in 15 years. i see things visually and it is always very bad when i see his face.. or hear his voice.

now i would normally delete that out, but i am using it as an example...

you're right--you can read our Fearful Leader very well in pictures. He reveals more than people usually do as he finds it hard to wear a mask in public like most politicians. That was how he snowed the voters and seemed so "real." Of course it can also be a liability. So his handlers keep their boy on a short leash. Or they did. It looks like he got loose for awhile at the summit. Is Laura falling down on the job? Maybe he's told his handlers to back off and so displays his aggressive tendencies more openly now. For whatever reason, they seem to be letting him sink or swim. Chimpy's an interesting case study, all right. Scary to think of the power that was handed to such an obviously unqualified creep. It depresses me to see him too, but on the other hand, the Rethuglicans are getting exactly what they deserve...they are well represented by this pathological asshole. So that's a plus. Let the voters see the truth about this nutjob they supported so they can understand how badly they were hoodwinked. And how dangerous it is to vote first and think later. Keep up the spectacular bad form, Dubbie baby.

Instead of deleting your thoughts sam sarrha, you could write an intersting book from your perspective.

35. the "what the heck, 'post message' "
I often just quit the window, as my posts can be too dead pan,
too depressing, and i read them myself and think, god, the world is really
depressing, and i sound depressed to talk about it, to even engage the stupid
warmongering mysoginist thieven liars and the mess they're makin... and perhaps
the hard headedness of being visual cuts through a thousand layers of
manipulative propaganda and emotion, the kind of moral foolery in bush's eyes at
the instant he realized he was sexually predatoring germany's leader.

I feel dirty like bush, corrupt like a republican, discussing them and their
undoing so many years. I can't call them "them" because bush is too much like me.
He is deeply flawed, socially inept, and often stupidly full of his latest egotism,
just i am not holding my hand over the nuclear button, nor any threat to anyone,
but i see in him, my own unforgiven foibles, and its embarassing because i know how
it feels to misread a social situation and then "wake up" to get i've been inappropriate.

Hopefully i wake up before i press 'post message', whereas bush is on camera, doubtless
i would have better policies were i president, but probably i'd be just as much a
social fuckup.

30. Naw...fuck it.
No matter how carefully I word something, somebody will jump on it because they don't like what they're hearing. I'm trying to stay civil though - and not get too upset. But if I do get upset, oh well - that's how I'm feeling. After I said my piece, I usually quit responding because nothing new will be discussed afterwards - just the same debate we're having over and over again, and I don't give a shit about having the last word.

And figure, no sense in doing this. There's probably a good chance I'm wrong if this person is on the opposite side. And even if I'm right it will feel shitty to get into an argument. Happens a couple of times per week. I'm sure I often avoid beginning the post at all due to the same reason.
