(Haaretz) Hezbollah is still showing no signs of breaking
http://haaretz.com/hasen/spages/740649.html

"It was a bad news day. In the morning, Israeli forces in Lebanon clashed with Hezbollah near Avivim. Two soldiers were killed. In the afternoon, Hezbollah began to shell the entire northern region heavily. Scores of Katyusha rockets were fired and two children from Nazareth were killed. For eight days, the Israel Defense Forces has been pounding Lebanon and dropping thousands of tons of bombs on it, yet Hezbollah remains the same intransigent rival as before. It is showing no signs of breaking."

2. Hizb won't break
when hiding behind civilians and blaming their deaths on Zionist aggression suits your agenda.

5. Hrrm let's see....
Israel has urged residents of southern Lebanon to evacuate the region so Hizbollah would not use them as human shields while firing rockets across the border.

Of course almost none of these count; since a large portion of them are Israel claiming that Hezbollah is doing it. I am sure the natural reply you want to make is that "you can't trust *those* people anyway".

Hezbollah is a much, much more credible source, I'm sure. Say hi at the next meeting for me.

7. As a Katrina survivor, I can attest many were unable to leave.
The poorest were simply without the cash needed to go on the long journey, so they died where they lived as a result. Yes, I've seen people blaming poor people for their own unfortunate fate because, as they say, they didn't want to pull themselves up by the boot straps. Sometimes you're so poor you can't even afford boot straps.

9. Well, at least they warned them...
however it seems that a goodly contingent of DU believes that Israel wants to just attck civilians, so I guess that is the only truth.

10. The evidence
indicates that is indeed what Israel is doing (attacking/punishing civilians)

11. What evidence?
That Hezbollah says so? That the Lebanese government says so?

4. Hezbollah appears to be more entrenched than I had suspected.
Edited on Wed Jul-19-06 10:40 PM by Selatius
They've got deeply entrenched positions and bunkers up and down the border regions. It's like the Middle Eastern version of the Korean DMZ except Hezbollah wishes it had the kind of firepower the DPRK has arrayed against South Korea. Unfortunately, mobile missile launchers are notoriously difficult to destroy precisely because they're mobile.
