Bush had to vote against Stem Cell for his base. Idea here
Obviously Bush absolutely had to vote against Stem Cell research to keep his base happy because they are all he has right now. This is a wedge issue for Democrats because the public is on our side on this. Dean sees this and will act accordingly I am sure. Thats fine and dandy but what I think Democrats need to do is undercut Bush and take away his credibility and expose that he really is not against Stem Cell but did the Veto strictly for political purposes. I believe Dem's need to go right for the jugular and target Bush's base so they will stay home.

So how do we do this? Well, I truly don't think Bush is being honest about a lot of his religious stuff. I am sure their is enough material floating around including interviews with people who know him or certain things he has said that give him away. Hell, Thomas Jefferson didn't believe have the religious stuff he spouted in public when you read his intimate writings. This kind of stuff goes on all the time in politics. If Democrats can run commercials that attack Bush's honesty about his religious beliefs then his base will be furious and then poof! Bush doesn't have any support left and his nut-case base stays home during the midterms and Dem's win overwhelmingly!

So now the important part. Do we have anything that we can use to follow through with this radical, outside the box idea?

Any ideas?

2. Simple.
Chimp doesn't seem to go to church very often.

How can he be a Christian when he doesn't attend. Jimmy Carter went. Ronald McReagan went. Bill Clinton went. Al Gore went.

The Dems can ask a simple question:
Why doesn't the Chimp go to church?

4. Ah, so you have to attend church to be a Christian?
That is a very simple minded and wrongheaded approach to the problem at hand.

6. Well, the rapture rightists might disagree with you.
Aren't those the people the original poster was speaking?

Myself, I'm an atheist, so maybe I don't understand the issue too well.
I took a stab in the dark at it. Probably not a good idea, eh?

3. His "base" is not even that united on the issue
This poll here reveals that only 48% of evangelical/born again Christians oppose funding the research.

7. IMHO this is NOTHING about Bush's "base" it is about his $$$$ base
The drug companies do not want a cure for diabetes. This for one is a multi-billon dollar a year business.

8. Bush's religion
Bush's religion is about as real as Bush's "ranch" in Crawford.

Being "born again", was just a way to get the twits to see past his being drunk until he was 40.

Oh, he found God, all is forgiven.

Idiots.
