So are things looking better for us in November?
Ralph Reed just got the smackdown.

Gas prices are pushing $3.25/gal.

Many people (reasonable) people are angry over the stem cell veto.

I'm really optimistic & things are looking worse & worse for the GOP.

1. The Israel Lebonon thing got me worried.
I hope that it doesn't turn out to be another wedge issue like the iraq war vote. If it does I am afraid that we wont get the voters that we need to gain control of congress.

4. Trust me it won't
This won't be a issue unless we get involved with the conflict or the repukes will bring it up for debate which they likely won't cause right now there trying to push there "family values agenda" to the people, which isn't working.

13. We need to point out to everyone we meet
That Bush's "values" are death and destruction.
Death in Iraq
Death in Lebanon
Threats to Iran
Threats to North Korea
No stem cell research in this country.

The republicans have built their party platform on death.

2. It's so and so
Wish that we didn't have e-voting machines and democrats would be united all the time but yeah in my mind it's looking pretty "keen" for us. People are waking up from the bullshit that the republican majority have been forcefeeding them for 12 years and as were talking and debate about issues that are effecting normal americans like Iraq, miminum wage and gas prices. The republican majority has been trying to duck the real issues by debateing about "social issues" that pose to threat to this county. Point and take gay marriage and the pledge of allegation but this time the people aren't buying it.

It's looking good every day, bu it could be better my friend.

5. Stalin said it' s who COUNTS the votes.. and they control the machines..
that's why they think they can get away with all this CRAP and not pay the price at the polls.

So, until we have hand counted ballots... NO WAY.. I mean I'm hopeful and I'll still go to the

polls, but it DON'T LOOK GOOD.......

6. I've gotten two repubs mad at *
in the last day and a half! Between stem cell veto and the idiotic behavior at G8, no wonder the repubs that want re-election are avoiding this putz!

7. I'm concerned, but not about election fraud. Turnout has been terrible.
The party has not done a very good job giving people a reason to vote for them. Lots of reasons to vote against the Republicans, but the last election should've shown us that doesn't work so well. People must be given an alternative and so far the Democrats have not been cohesive enough to do this. It feels like that's changing - DiFi's grilling of Gonzo for example. I just worry that it won't be in time. If we can't get our base to turn out, they won't need to steal the election.

9. That's a terrific post
I've been arguing since early 2004 that we should all but ignore Bush and the Republicans. Newsflash: the country knows all about them and the verdict is negative. Every campaign nickel is basically wasted if it's an attack on the other side.

I'll give you an example. A pathetic example. I'm on the Democratic Party mailing list, for emails. I'm sure thousands and thousands on this board are also. Have you ever seen a header in those emails that is positive, focusing on our side? I haven't. Everything is "Outrageous Decision by Bush and GOP Congress," or something like that. I basically delete every one due to the headlines alone.

We don't handicap well. That's the basic problem with this era of Democratic leadership. Dean has got the right idea with expanding the playing field but as LeftCoast says, minus a sustained and cohesive simply expressed reason to vote FOR our side, the turnout and therefore the results will be subpar, essentially a forfeit.

10. Lebanese terrorist cells in this country. Booga booga
That was cnn's big thing yesterday. That worries me. A lot of people still trust republicans on the terror thing for some reason.

11. I'm pretty damned confident.
No one has seen anything decent for this country in six years. I think they've had enough.

I think the Republicans have extremely low morale, and the Democrats are thirsty.

Good things are going to happen this November.

14. The GOP has no worries, thanks to these ballerinas...
Edited on Thu Jul-20-06 05:50 AM by tomreedtoon

"We wouldn't dare inconvenience our good friend Dubya!'

Seriously, does anyone really believe that a voter would deliberately choose candidates without courage? Do they think Democrats have the best chance of winning if they're listed as "Not Republican" on the ballots?

15. Gas prices will be the big decider...
whether or not people turn away from the GOP I think.

Just remember, we're only one big disaster away from $5.00/gal. gas. All it would take would be another serious hurricane hit or a refinery explosion.
