Should I send this to CNN re: Glenn Beck?

(I think I was rather restrained) :)

Dear CNN,

Congratulations on your recent hiring of Glenn Beck to host yet another <cough> apolitical program on your network. Not being content to wallow in the slime of gutter politics, you have now managed to create a cesspool of bigoted filth so noticeable to anyone with a functioning cranium that only Pat Robertson, Fred Phelps and anyone owning white sheets with eyeholes will tune in to watch.

Certainly you have heard Mr. Beck’s hate-filled diatribes on his radio program, and have been witness to his inability to maintain a rational discussion with anyone who does not share his flat-earth point of view. I am of course curious as to what made management decide that this was the guy for you. Was it the threat he made to kill Michael Moore? His compassionate statements about those left behind in New Orleans? His attacks on Nick Berg and the 9-11 families? His praising of torture? C’mon, you can tell us - just what part of his anti-American jingoistic swill melted your widdle hearts?

This is, far and away, the most despicable thing that CNN has ever done. How DARE you call yourselves a reputable news service when you have the audacity to put this contemptible pig on the airwaves. You should be ashamed of yourselves, but as you whore yourselves out to whomever you think will look kindly on you I fear any vestiges of self-respect have long since vanished.

I await with bated breath the liberal counterpoint to Mr. Beck on your network, but of course that is not “approved” content at CNN anymore, so instead I will watch with glee as the CNN Titantic plummets to the bottom, all the while futilely yelling to George W. Bush that you’ve done everything he asked. As you sink, you hear him say, “Rupey, you’re doin’ a heck of a job.”

...change "baited breath" to "bated breath"

Unless you plan on filling your mouth with sardines. :)
Bated here is a contraction of abated; it has the meaning “reduced, lessened, lowered in force”. So bated breath refers to a state in which you almost stop breathing through terror, awe, extreme anticipation, or anxiety.

Great Letter! And don't forget his nasty comments about the 9/11 families, either.

Glenn Beck called hurricane survivors in New Orleans "scumbags," said he "hates" 9-11 families

Nationally syndicated Clear Channel radio host Glenn Beck referred to survivors of Hurricane Katrina who remained in New Orleans as "scumbags." Also, after acknowledging that nobody "in their right mind is going to say this out loud," Beck attacked victims of the disaster in general and the families of victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, saying: "I didn't think I could hate victims faster than the 9-11 victims."

(snip)

Beck's program is syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks (owned by radio conglomerate Clear Channel Communications) on more than 160 radio stations across the country to an estimated weekly audience of 3 million listeners.
