Do you guys really want the Bush Cartel to jump into ME fiasco?
I mean, any more than they already are? I've seen lots of people complaining because we aren't getting involved in trying to broker peace between Isreal and the growing list of countries they are fighting. I just don't get that point of view. Sure, if this were 1976 or 1996 and we had thoughtful Presidents with competent (even if we didn't always like them) Secretaries of State, I'd say we should already be there. But now, with the Idiot in Chief and his Keystone Kops, I would rather they stay disinterested and even more importantly, out of the region. The only time this government is not obscenely incompetent is when they are doing nothing (and yes, I admit that there are times when even their nothing is wildly incompetent) and this situation is too grave for it to be fucked up by Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld et al. Don't ya think?

1. If Bush got involved, we'd stumble into WWIII
Bush's solution probably involves idiotic military force against Syria and Iran. Then we'll have ourselves a real world war. With Iran being bombed with smart bombs and cruise missiles, you know the Russians and the Chinese will intervene in an indirect manner to oppose the US, since they've invested billions in Iranian oil fields.

The US and Israel vs. Syria and Iran and Iran's backers China and Russia. It'll be this century's "Great War."

2. While Bush is hoping Syria or Iran does something silly so that he
can attack them,,,, I would just love to sit back and  if Saudi bombed Israel with their US built jets.

3. They'll more likely use non-violent measures 1st like a US oil embargo
They'd embargo us and demand we negotiate a cease-fire or something. They would be forced to take some kind of measures like that if Bush goes off the deep end because if they don't, the dictatorial ruling regime will risk being overthrown by an enraged population. Pakistan is in the same fix except they have nuclear weapons.

6. What makes you think he isn't already involved?
The situation in the middle east is exactly what they hoped for.

10. I wouldn't like to see it, no
But I suspect BushCo will use this as their "in" for going after Syria and Iran. Syria's looking mighty ripe at the moment in fact. Assad may not live long enough to regret using Hezbollah to demonstrate that he still has power over Lebanon. I'm sure the majority of Lebanese won't miss him.

But it will be hypocritical of BushCo to involve themselves further. There's no quantifiable difference between Iran and Syria providing military/political support to Hezbollah and the US providing military/political support to Israel. The meddling and results are the same. It's only the frame of reference that makes it seem different, like two mirrors facing each other.

11. Like the 1983 Lebanon Invasion by Israel, BushCo has let it happen
It's a hands-off strategy of letting the Israeli military loose against its neighbors. The deal in 1983 was payback for Israel's role in brokering the Iran-Contra conspiracy. Today, it's technical cooperation (phony documents and political support) for the Iraq invasion and the runup to war with Iran.

12. That's exactly why Bush and his Kops were installed...
... so that YOU wouldn't want them to get invovled. And then the region could burn, followed by apocalypse, rapture and the return of what's-His-name! It's all right on track...

14. So you think fostering conflict is the solution?
How the hell is that a solution? Especially given their designs on the whole area and how much they want us involved militarily. I think maybe they've already won in their point of view becoming widely accepted.
