Is all of this a precursor to another 9/11??
Just before the last 9/11 attack, Israeli tanks went into Palestine, bulldozed the homes of the Palestinians, and threatened the home and life of Yasir Arafat. The Palestinians were helpless against the powerful Israeli tanks and military. The United States, under the leadership of George W Bush, did nothing. For months, this went on and Bush did nothing. He refused to get involved. The hatred boiled under the surface.

Yes, we have all heard the reasons why 9/11 happened and how long it was planned and so forth. But, in my humble opinion, it was the lack of involvement and the encouragement by silence of Israel by our government that was the catalyst that brought about the first 9/11. Now, only 5 years later, it appears we are watching history repeat itself. The parallels are scary.

1. There's one problem with that, though.
And that is the fact that al Qaeda doesn't really give a fuck about Israel or the Palestinians. They have no history of involvement in that conflict. Hell, Osama barely even mentioned it until a couple of years ago. I wouldn't tie these two ideas together so closely.

2. The Palestinian "issue" unites all Arabs....
I think it is intimately connected to everything that happens in the Arab world.

6. That's a very Western view.
Yes, they enjoy presenting a united face on this issue, but the fact of the matter is that different parts of the Arab world view this conflict with varying degrees of seriousness wrt their own agenda. al Qaeda has no history of terrorism against Israel or primarily Jewish/Israeli interests. In fact, until the beginning of the second intifada I am not aware of any public statements by bin Laden that talk about the plight of the Palestinians. Arab governments can rage against Israel all day long, but at the end of the day they still treat the Palestinians like the redheaded stepchildren of the Arab world.

3. We only assume al Qaeda attacked us on 9/11 because that is
what the media and the government have been telling us. We know they have lied about everything else, why could that not be a lie as well?

4. If you want to discuss conspiracy theories...
...do it in the dungeon. The OP made a legitimate point.

5. I could be a lie
But without better evidence than "If Bush says it it must be a lie" many people won't be convinced. Including myself.

8. What does Osama have to do with it?
I think it would be an excellent time for the Neocons to do another 9-11.

11. "Liberals are never happy"...?
And they will never be happy when people like yourself drink the kool-aid and buy all the lies as our families and friends die for your ignorance.

10. I think one way or another
...we're in for it. BushCo has gone a long way to stirring the ME pot since 9-11. My fear of a legitimate hit by terrorists (as opposed to L/MIHOP) grows with each passing day these loons are in power.

14. Iran is the bigger player
Larry Johnson had said in his essay that Iran is sitting back and waiting to invade Iraq with all the confusion going on.

And the neoconservatives would like to take on Iran directly.

US is not trying to make peace.
