Freeper Telling Me That Blanco "Didn't Allow" The NG To Enter
ARRRRGH! What's the best source to learn a Freeper? I'm afraid if I send her thinkprogress or something, she will just discount it out of hand.

1. Well She did tell BOOSH that she wasn't going to let him take control
That lead BOOSH to withhold the NG even though there were requests.
BOOSH held up the NG by wanting actual documents signed by her.

He was fucking with her because she wouldn't let him control her state.

So the Freeper is sorta right but way off context.

12. She did NOT delay them either
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 08:55 PM by Horse with no Name
:) The delay came from Washington.

Edited to add link

The Associated Press reported that Blanco had accepted an offer for additional troops from New Mexico the day before the hurricane hit, but that help was delayed by paperwork needed from Washington:

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson offered Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco help from his state's National Guard last Sunday, the day before Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana. Blanco accepted, but paperwork needed to get the troops en route didn't come from Washington until late Thursday.

16. so what, those were just other problems and delays
my understanding is,
Blanco had NG under her command within striking
distance of N.O., but did not want to deploy them
when first asked by Nagin.

were there other problems, sure, but
if this or that unit doesn't show up,
is not an excuse to not use what you have

17. Your understanding is...wrong

Did you even read the link I provided?

"As Gen. Russel Honoré, commander of the Department of Defense's (DoD) Joint Task Force Katrina, stated in a September 1 briefing, the governors of Louisiana and Mississippi had requested additional assistance from the federal government "as the hurricane was approaching," beginning with a request on August 26 that DoD command centers be set up in their states. And by August 28, Mississippi and Louisiana were collaborating with the National Guard Bureau to have additional security forces sent in."

Forces started moving once the eye of the hurricane had passed and we could start moving forces in and assist the states, Alabama pushed forces into Mississippi as well as forces from Texas started to flow into Louisiana, as well as other states. But that's the approximate phase of the operation. Again, that was executed through National Guard arrangements to move National Guard capability where it's needed. And that is what is happening, an extension of that, now.

disaster relief -- was so uneven, delayed and chaotic this time around," citing paperwork delays, the depletion of Guard units due to troop deployment in Iraq, and President Bush's decision to not exercise his legal authority to order the National Guard to the disaster area himself, as well as the timing of the governors' requests, as possible factors.

11. Feeling like teaching pigs to fly, eh?
Freepers are not educatable as far as I can tell. Is this person truly a freeper or just an incurious and easily led creature. The latter can be retrained, the former not so much.
