As dozens filed in to the Thousand Oaks Library to hear the parents of a 20-year-old Marine speak about his death in Iraq, Carlos Arredondo, the father of the soldier, was busy taping poster-sized color photos of his lost son on the front wall of the library.

There was a picture of Marine Alex Arredondo in full uniform, another of him holding a gun, and another of Alex smiling next to his little brother John. And then two more posters were hung. Poster No. 4, of Alex lying in an open coffin, makeup disguising the wound from the fatal bullet that entered his temple and took his life in Iraq. Poster No. 5, a picture of his headstone.

Then his father wheeled in a coffin draped in an American flag with Alex's combat boots attached to the top. His uniform was draped on the coffin. snip

And this is the guy who set himself on fire: She drove home from work that day to find that her husband had set himself on fire, having also splashed gasoline inside the van of the military men who had come to their home to deliver the bad news.

3. Publicity-hound book contract signing traitors.
Oh yeah...sorry 'bout your kid. BUT HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS SIGNING UP FOR.

That last line cuts me every time.

I'me met a good 25 parents, siblings, spouses etc. of IW2Vets and EVERY one of them --every single one--said their soldier signed up because of 9/11. They sacrificed their daily lives to protect US. To avenge us, too, perhaps.

They've been had and they ALL know it.
