"Salaam, Sholom -- A Vision of Peace"
It would have been a signal event at any time, this unlikely road trip of Mayors from both Israel and Palestine, traveling, speaking, and 'hanging' together, all clearly committed to their joint endeavor. The fact that it took place against a backdrop of rockets and carnage at home made their calm determination all the more remarkable. Follow me to the jump for a little hope...

This is a must-read diary entry on DailyKos. Someone told me this morning that he thought there was absolutely no hope for any compromise in regard to the ME. I disagreed with him, of course, and pointed out that many citizens of both of these countries have and want nothing to do with all the fighting. Then later I read this diary entry and it reinforced that opinion and restored my faith in my fellow man.

Just wanted to share this with all of you.

Peace.

2. Thank you for sharing this.
Let us all hope and pray that these good men do not meet the fate of Sadat and Begin. There are many out there so invested in their causes that they are willing to snuff out all who would offer an alternative to violence and hatred.

12. Peace between nations has never been achieved without
.... citizen exchange and diplomacy at the grassroots level. (So-called) National leaders have never been the the vanguard on the roads to peace. It has always been and always will be the people themselves.

16. I certainly thought that diary entry qualified as such.
I might even re-post it next week. Peace seems such a forgotten concept these days.
