1. Hezbollah grab foreign journos
Two foreign TV journalists and their two Lebanese assistants were abducted by the Hezbollah militia in Beirut Thursday on suspicion of spying, a Lebanese internal security forces officer said.

"The crew was filming in the area of the Sanayeh gardens (a public park) when Hezbollah elements seized them on suspicion of being spies," the officer told AFP.

He declined to give the nationalities of the two foreigners or the media organisation for which they worked.

Police and Lebanese troops deployed in the area immediately after the abduction to investigate.

8. Oh well that's different
that makes it completely legitimate that they kidnapped them- or would you prefer to call it capturing?

13. The rules of war allow for the detention of spies.
I believe that is how the game is played. Israel cannot at the same time declare itself at war with Lebanon and not expect that its agents on the ground in Lebanon will not be treated as spies. Of course they may not be spies, in which case, as Hezbollah is interested in good PR, they will be released.

Would Israel act any differently?

15. A H'zbollah militia
is not the Lebanese gov't. So although the gov't can detain suspected spies, H'zbollah cannot. It's a kidnapping, pure and simple

17. As Israel has declared there is no difference, there is no difference.
At any rate this whole 'news report' was inflammatory bullshit.

The tv crew was detained by the Lebanese Police, and then released.

14.  why would the bad guys risk kidnapping the press ?
to paint the isreali government as the bad guys the leaders in hezbolla are counting on the world press to get their message out to the world. what benefit would it be to them to kidnap reporters when they just had the international press touring the southern beruit neighbor hoods?
i maybe wrong but it`s my opinion and will stand by it untill proven wrong

11. How about 'detained for questioning on suspicion of espionage'.
I realize that it is difficult to avoid partisanship in this conflict, but has it occurred to you that there may very well be spys on the ground in Beirut searching for Hezbollah?

12. I'm waiting to comment on this
until there is more information that these were journalists. I just wanted to post so that a lack of responses wouldn't be perceived as endorsement of such an action.
