All Joking Aside, Bush's Behavior Has Crossed into FRIGHTENINGLY BIZZARRE!
Edited on Thu Jul-20-06 01:26 PM by Beetwasher
The Lunatic Is Out Of Fucking Control W/ His Touchy Feely Bullshit! Yes, yes, I know, we all know he's mentally ill, but recently it seems like all the boundaries have essentially fallen away and he's just out of control, between his massage of the German chancellor and now his "playful" slapping of Congressman Al Green: see thread here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=1684685&mesg_id=1684685

I mean, holy fuck. Seriously, he is mentally ill and totally unhinged. You know we can joke and make fun but really, this isn't funny. The guy is nuts and either has absolutely no notion of boundaries or he does it on purpose because he doesn't care. Either way he's totally fucking nuts. Behavior like this from someone in his position is beyond innapropriate and has gone into the realm of surreal and bizarre and what's even more frightening is is that the media essentially ignores it OR covers for him and pretends like it's no big deal. Frightening.

What feeling compares to giving the beard of a man you barely know a good stroke? Well, very few feelings, but among them are the rubbing of strangers' bald pates and the unsolicited kneading of G8 leaders' shoulders. Mmm, feels go-o-o-od!

And no one will/can do anything about it, and so it has and it will continue to get worse.

The media will not report it, or when it has to cover a picture, it will minimize his behavior, make excuses for it, or claim that it is somehow normal.

He is batshit crazy and a drunk.

We really do have a very very serious problem.

26. It's true.
If you hide the Ritalin whole in his food, he either eats around it (leaving it in the bowl) or he hides it in his mouth, spitting it out behind the sofa later. Another method that's been successful is some poor staffer holding him by the scruff while Condi throws the pill in the back of his throat, then holds his mouth shut until he swallows it. Crushing up the Ritalin is a bit more dignified, and a lot easier.

I look forward to the day, before the nation, on camera, the SOB has a total and complete meltdown. He will do something wacky, say something totally off the wall that can't be spun a different way, and then fall to the floor, crying like a baby, in the fetal position, with his thumb in his mouth.

THEN - maybe then - SOMEONE will be forced to do something to address his instability.

Later, at the Chancellor of Germany's home, they were sitting in front of the unlit fire when he made that remark.

Asked about the Israeli devastation of the Beirut International Airport, Bush announced, “I thought you were going to ask about the
pig. I’ll tell you about the pig tomorrow” He had already mentioned the wild boar being eaten at the pricey barbecue party “feast” that
evening, saying, “I’m looking forward to that pig tonight,” “I understand I may have the honor of slicing the pig,” and “I haven’t seen
the pig yet,” in response to a question about former East German life “apart from the pig.”

49. Maybe
Ever since he was running for Prezdent in 2000, he's had this weird speech pattern: he speaks three or four words, pauses, speaks three or four more. Used to drive me nuts. Having worked as a transcriptionist, the pattern seems familiar. Listen until you get an earful, spit it out, repeat.

When he's "off the cuff" that rhythm falls away, and he blunders headfirst into sentences he can't finish, and ends up with silliness like his "fool me once" fiasco.

Either he's repeating what he hears (as in on the wire) or he's on his own, and totally inept.

I'm wondering if he's off his meds and off the wire at the same time. Haven't seen the big bump on his back lately, and he can't get a sentence together to save his life.

Or maybe he's enhancing his prescribed meds with a few little extras of his own, a la Limbaugh.

They've made some changes in the White House staff; maybe the staffer who was feeding him his lines was canned, or promoted.

Whatever the case, he certainly grows stranger and stranger by the hour.

"Inappropriately giving an unwanted shoulder massage to the female leader of another sovreign country during a policy meeting" is another. So is "slapping a black person at an NAACP meeting."

This has gone beyond "touching people" into some very weird area. If Clinton had gotten this strange, you can bet that....well, you know.

Someone who has no control over their behavior or their impulses is mentally ill.

than mental illness.

50. One more classic example of inappropriate affect.

There is a weak correlation between the narcissist's behaviour and his professed or proclaimed emotions. The reason is that the latter are merely professed or proclaimed – but not felt. The narcissist fakes feelings and their outer expression in order to impress others, to gain their sympathy or to motivate them to act in a manner benefiting the narcissist and promoting his interests. In this – as in many other simulated behaviour patterns – the narcissist seeks to manipulate his human environment. Inside, he is barren, devoid of any inkling of true feeling, even mocking. He looks down upon those who succumb to the weakness of experiencing emotions and holds them in contempt. He berates and debases them.

This is the heartless mechanism of "simulated affect". This mechanism lies at the core of the narcissist's inability to empathise with his fellow human beings.

The narcissist constantly lies to himself and to others. He defensively self-deludes, distorts facts and circumstances, provides comfortable (consonant) interpretations – all so as to preserve his delusions of grandeur and feelings of (unmerited) self-importance. This is the mechanism of the "sliding of meanings". This mechanism is part of the much larger set of Emotional Involvement Prevention Measures (EIPMs). The EIPMs are intended to prevent the narcissist from getting emotionally involved or committed. This way the narcissist insures himself against getting hurt and abandoned, or so he erroneously believes. In actuality, these mechanisms are self-defeating and lead directly to the results they were intended to forestall. They mostly operate through versions of emotional denial. The narcissist is estranged from his own emotions as a means of self-defence.
Another characteristic of the narcissistic personality is the use that it makes of "emotional delegation". The narcissist – despite appearances – is human and is possessed of emotions and of emotional content. But, in an effort to defend himself against a repetition of past hurts, he "delegates" his emotions to a fictitious self, the False Self. It is the False Self that interacts with the world. It is the False Self that suffers and enjoys, gets attached and detached, joins and separates, develops likes and dislikes, preferences and prejudices, loves and hates.

Whatever happens to the narcissist, his experiences, the setbacks that he (inevitably) suffers, the humiliations, the adoration, the fears and the hopes – all these happen to one self removed, to the False Self. The narcissist is shielded by this construction. He lives in a padded cell of his own creation, an eternal observer, unharmed, embryo-like in the womb of his True Self. No wonder that this duality, so entrenched, so fundamental to the narcissistic personality – is also so evident, so discernible. This delegation of emotions is what disturbs those who interact with a narcissist. The feeling that his True Self is absent, that it is a false emanation, which does all the emoting.
The narcissist himself experiences this dichotomy, this break between a False Self which is his interface with the true world – and a True Self which is forever dormant in a no-man's land. The narcissist lives in a warped reality, divorced from his own emotions, constantly feeling that he is an actor in a film featuring his life.

A more detailed description of this emotional break can be found in "Warped Reality and Retroactive Emotional Content – FAQ # 39".

64. He -is- surrounded by syncophants...
When Jon Stewart was interviewing Ari Fleischer, Stewart jokingly asked why no one had ever told Bush jr the correct way to pronounce the word "nuclear". In two seconds, Fleischer's face went from relaxed to grim as he seriously replied, "What?! Correct the president of the United States?!"

I honestly think he is kept in a big bubble, either by his own choice or someone else's... "Remember, thou art mortal," is probably not a phrase uttered in this administration.

56. Check out Post Number #50 from Lousianaliberal. It is right on.
I have also been saying for 3 years Bush has a Narcissistic Personality Disorder. There are many variations and different interpretations but it is obvious to many who work in this field he has and presents major issues.

George W. Bush makes the late Richard Nixon appear the picture of Mental Health in comparison. At least Nixon avoided public displays of this magnitude.

I can tell you that the first week I paid attention to Bush (when he began campaigning) I knew he was NPD and said so. It is very clear. And also very frightening.

when you have been victimized by a malignant narcissist, it is easy to recognise the syndrome. I sympathize with you completely. But many people still don't understand that NPD is a seriously destructive malfunction. This is because narcissist types seek to ingratiate themselves to others and can pose as 'normal' for awhile. As long as they are receiving the attention they desire, they can seem OK. But if the desired devotion is not forthcoming, they become ruthlessly vengeful. They can also behave inappropriately, violating boundaries and social norms, like we see Shrubbie doing now...in their demands for admiration and attention.

Not only is Bush a classic example of NPD, many in his entourage are also. They support each other and (I have found) are often found in packs.

59. If Bush had to get a "regular" job, he'd be fired
for his behavior. Good thing his parents are filthy rich and connected. Otherwise, the guy would bounce from job to job after being fired for incompetence, failure to showup for work, and inappropriate behavior while at work.
He's just a few million Mommy and Daddy bucks away from unemployment and living in a trailer.
Hope he's grateful to Mom and Dad and their wealthy friends, always there to grease the skids for this lazy, didn't do my homework, didn't showup for Guard training, don't know how to act respectful slackass.
And we're stuck with him.
Sigh.

and contrasted Kerry as the wealthy, privileged "elitist"....and judging by some posts I've seen on some so-called liberal blogs and forums, it wasn't only repugs who were repeating this nonsense.

Who was it that said, in a democracy people get the government they deserve?

77. That is so true, even though
there were people who were fiercely loyal to Kerry from every stage in his life. Even his ex-wife's comment was that she was 100% behind him, though he was an excellent statesman and had no qualms at all with him being president.

I loved the comments of the young student who introduced him at Kenyon College - who was clearly blown away that he met with several alumni in his office to help prepare his speech - which was one of the nicest, most inspiring and personal graduation speeches I ever heard.

76. Maybe this would be a good time for someone in the White House
to discretely put out a call for a crowd of idiots who believe, like Bush's promoters claimed, Bush is the guy they'd all love to go have a beer with, and THEY can form a little guard to escort him around to keep the citizens safe from his groping, restless little hands.

How bad does it have to get before someone does something? Who hasn't been in that man's place at some point in his/her life, and had to endure some asshole clutching at him/her? Jeezus Christ.

Either of these fine men would be a better pResident.
