GOP sex scandal redux - this time in Pennsylvania
Poseur is facing assault charges
Young men tell of his threats, sexual abuse
Wednesday, July 19, 2006

By Gabrielle Banks, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

A veteran GOP consultant who served jail time for luring several younger men into his home, holding them captive and threatening their families with mob retaliation is facing similar charges again in Common Pleas Court this week.

Assistant District Attorney Ed Scheid told an Allegheny County jury yesterday that Leon Abramovitz, 59, of Shadyside, tricked two University of Pittsburgh students into visiting his studio apartment, promising each a job tailor-made to match his career goals.

In two separate incidents, he brainwashed his victims into staying for weeks at a time, forcing one to perform sex acts and the other to commit a robbery. Otherwise, he claimed he would put hits out on their families, Mr. Scheid said.

Bradley D. Lewis, 24, testified that he met Mr. Abramovitz in April 2005 in the produce section of a Giant Eagle. The Pitt economics student said he had just been fired from a $7.25 an hour job.

5. Why are GOP consultants always bottom feeding, low life scum?
Maybe the GOP could clean up it's act if it hired consultants that had a shred of decency.

12. It must be in their DNA
The GOP seems to attract individuals who have some sort of sex obsession.

13. This man is a republican hero, dancha' know!
Someone like Bill Clinton might snatch a chance to cop a hurried BJ, but republicans do it at the point of a gun, led by their terrorist family values.
Every time I hear of horrible behavior, particularly involving sex or rape, it is a hands down 99.9% chance it is a repuke. They ain't nice people.

7. is it usual to report on the height and weight of the victims?
How bizarre is THAT? Granted, the whole story is very bizarre but the only reason I can see for the writer to include their physical stats is to imply that they weren't victims because they were not small.

:wtf:

9. I don't know why the reporter did that
Never seen the physical stats of a victim in the body of a newspaper piece - definitely not in The Washington Post.

10. ??????????
<SNIP>
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound senior returned to his Oakland apartment that morning to collect a backpack full of belongings, then went to Mr. Abramovitz's place and stayed for six weeks, performing sex acts at his insistence, he testified. Mr. Abramowitz, who is diabetic and blind in one eye, did not have weapons, but he slapped Mr. Lewis if he disobeyed orders.

11. Which reminds me . . . .
How's that GOP congressman from up near Scranton doing in his reelection bid?

I mean the one whose mistress of five years called the cops because he tried to choke her.

His wife was, uh, surprised.

14. Don Sherwood, Representative for PA-10?
He's being challenged by Democrat Chris Carney. According to their internal polling, Sherwood has a re-elect of only 21%.

The last I heard Carney was trailing Sherwood by only six points.

16. And a REAGAN Republican at that:
"Prior to those incidents, he worked on the redistricting committee for City Council and served in the Reagan administration in the office of constituent affairs, said attorney Ira Houck."

17. sorry
the flip side of finally being old enough to fuck legally is figuring out whether or not to fuck at all.

Not defending the creepy GOP guy by any means, but . . . let's be serious. Bradley was 22 in 2005. And 6'4". And the other guy was 6'2". The old guy was old and withered and gimpy and creepy. Did you want to be a writer / architect SO badly that it overcame all common sense? I'm not about blaming the victim here, and young 'uns can be pretty naive, but what is the line?

Somebody says you have to sell crack in order to get this job and you sell crack, are you being exploited or just stupid? Crime families? Too much television, not enough reality.

Sad for both gents - a hard lesson.

18. I'm with you Sui, guys that age certainly share some responsibility - not
saying that there wasn't some coercion involved and that it certainly doesn't sound completely like consenting adults, but they were adults - even if they didn't make great decisions.

Weird fricking story anyhow.
