They're discussing this in the House right now. A pension bill that was paassed by the Senate 97-3. The House is voting on a Motion to Commit. What does that mean?

4. Deciding whether to send it to committee |
|
Motions to commit are pretty much formalities; it's to get the bill to the committee to tweak its languge and (in some cases) its rules of debate and passage.

too!
I tried to find the answer through a google search, but I guess I phrased it wrong, and I was just trying to understand.
I have to say, everyone made me smile with their interpretation of my question though!

Miller (D-CA) was righteous. He said that they called those at Enron who robbed pension plans criminals and in the House they call them legislators. McKeon (?...R arguing the rip-off side) tried to interrupt and Miller wouldn't yield. Told him that Rs control the WH and the Congress, they can control their time. Then he finished up. McKeon wanted Miller's words taken down because he called them criminals. Whoever is in charge of the gavel today informed McKeon that the remark occurred too far back to be taken down.
