Research gurus! Can ya' help me?
The reason the GOP gives for not raising min wage is that it will cost jobs in the lowest income levels as small businesses cut workers to avoid increased costs.

My gut tells me that is complete bull shit.

Is there a website that explores the data to support or deflate that proposition?

I've done this sort of research before and it is very time consuming. Somebody has to have done it already.

Any help out there?

1. My argument against this has always relied on simple logic...
this idea that a raise in minimum wage would mean a loss of low-income jobs is absurd on its face. It presupposes that there are untold thousands of minimum wage jobs that companies offer out of the goodness of their hearts, but that could be liquidated if needs be. When looked at that way, does this idea really make any sense?

3. Well I know
from playing the stock market that companies have reported above average earnings for the first 2 Q's of 2006(an average of 66%) - So I would think that if they are making more money then there should be enough for the slaves to have a bump in their pay-

but, but, but if the companies increased wages then their earnings would suffer *sarcasm*
