'WTC' full of dread (Oliver Stone's Film - NY Daily News Review)

The horrors of 9/11 come roaring back in Oliver Stone's "World Trade Center."

The towers smolder. A blizzard of paper blankets nearby streets. Victims splashed with blood and caked with dust stagger to safety. A doomed office worker jumps.

Then the towers crumble.

The impact is intensified because the film shows 9/11 as it was lived by two Port Authority cops who went downtown to help but ended up buried under rubble in the smoldering belly of Ground Zero.

"World Trade Center," viewed by the Daily News yesterday during a preview at Paramount Pictures' Times Square screening room, is based on the recollections of retired Sgt. John McLoughlin, Officer Will Jimeno and their wives.

4. Yes.
Stone should have waited to make one exploring all of the unanswered questions or speculations (conspiracies) re: 9/11.

3. We've all seen the towers fall two thousand too many times.
I don't want dramatization and closeups of screaming victims. When is a major Director/studio going to pull back the camera and show us why it happened? F-911 gave us a just a peek.

5. I really don't know if I can handle a dramatization of the WTC 9/11
...event. I watched it unfold on live television news and remained in shock for weeks. I believe I now suffer from post-traumatic stress over it and I was not even anywhere near where it happened. I think I'll wait for the DVD, so I can watch it in phases or I might just buy the DVD and not watch it just to support Oliver Stone in all the great movie work he does. I still get emotionally drawn into JFK The Movie, another Oliver Stone work and that event took place some 43 years ago. I witnessed that event when live breaking news came over network TV and the movie continues to open the emotional wounds and lose I felt those many years ago.

6. I saw this as one of the trailers to An Inconvenient Truth...

and was repulsed. As with the Flight 93 movie I won't be watching it. There's something morbid about paying $10 to relive the suffering and horror of that day. I still can't bear to watch the actual footage from that day as it brings me to absolute tears.

I know there are stories to tell from that day but I agree that it's too soon. Right now these films come off as "war on terra" propoganda, even if that's not their true intention.
