Remember in the beginning? They laughed at us, said NEOCONS didn't exist.
Now you hear every right wing pundit from Tweety Matthews to Pat Buchanan calling them out on their miserably failed policies which have created worldwide turmoil and cost tens of thousands of lives. But just a few short years ago, the righties were calling us conspiracy nuts for even suggesting such a group of warmongerers existed.

Oh, to turn back the clock...and do some serious, serious bitch-slapping. Come to think of it, I'd still be happy to bitch-slap Bill Kristol and Wolfowitz, et al. Happy happy happy.

12. I remember that. Just before the invasion. Visions of munitions money
was dancing through Blair's head. He'll make a fortune with the Carlyle Group after he's through with his disservice to the people of Great Britain.

3. Sean Hannity cut the mic and started calling "Black Helicopters,"
when somebody mentioned PNAC about 2 years ago ..... right now PNAC
is trying to slip out the back door like they never existed. But they did and still do.

1998 letter to Clinton asking for a war in Iraq .... after he said no then they went all
out w/ the help of AIPAC and the Jerry Falwells to get him about Monica.

http://www.newamericancentury.org/iraqclintonletter.htm

We urge you to articulate this aim, and to turn your Administration's attention to implementing a strategy for removing Saddam's regime from power. This will require a full complement of diplomatic, political and military efforts. Although we are fully aware of the dangers and difficulties in implementing this policy, we believe the dangers of failing to do so are far greater. We believe the U.S. has the authority under existing UN resolutions to take the necessary steps, including military steps, to protect our vital interests in the Gulf. In any case, American policy cannot continue to be crippled by a misguided insistence on unanimity in the UN Security Council.

We urge you to act decisively. If you act now to end the threat of weapons of mass destruction against the U.S. or its allies, you will be acting in the most fundamental national security interests of the country. If we accept a course of weakness and drift, we put our interests and our future at risk.

Elliott Abrams Richard L. Armitage William J. Bennett

Jeffrey Bergner John Bolton Paula Dobriansky

Francis Fukuyama Robert Kagan Zalmay Khalilzad

William Kristol Richard Perle Peter W. Rodman

Donald Rumsfeld William Schneider, Jr. Vin Weber

Paul Wolfowitz R. James Woolsey Robert B. Zoellick

5. Pat Buchannan was against the invasion of Iraq. His magazine
singled out the neocons early on. I don't recall if he used the term "PNAC" in his article back then, but he named all the major players.

8. You're right...Pat has been the bizarro-world player in this one.
I am so frightened that lately, he seems to be one of the few voices of reason. Briefly. He always manages to say something stupid afterwards to damper his apparent sanity, but still...too often, he seems to be the only guy on the right making sense any more!

9. I surely do
Funny how they went from conspiracy theory to accepted political movement overnight, isn't it? The RW was wrong when they wouldn't believe us about neocons, just as they're wrong about so many things.

Repugs are deadly stupid. I hope they enjoy the world they've created.

10. Tweety and Buchanan alluded to the PNAC and their manfiesto...
Edited on Thu Jul-20-06 07:24 PM by LostInAnomie
... the other day on Hardball.

They stopped short of coming out and naming them but you could tell what they were talking about. Buchanan said that from the very beginning there was a cabal of Neocons that directed the president and served him what he called a "pre-packaged meal" about what to do in the ME.
