It seems to me that many of those who support Israel no matter what |
|
are just like the 'America - love it or leave it' crowd.
It is possible to love someone and still tell them when they're doing something wrong, something counterproductive. In fact, I think it's a moral imperative to do just that.
And Israel is only creating more problems with these heavy-handed responses that end up killing far more people than were affected in the first place.

5. No, it's a valid question |
|
If you question a government's tactics, are you summarily dismissing the concerns of all the citizens who live there? Are you allying yourself unquestioningly with their enemies? Are you wishing for their destruction or continued persecution?
Methinks, NO.

I would NEVER support my sister, for instance, who has a drug problem. I love her and I would try to help her heal herself.
I would NEVER support my brother, for instance, deliberately provoking violence somewhere.
You can't just blindly love without also criticizing. It's not possible. You're just harming everyone that way.

13. Because I see so many blind 'Israel, no matter what' |
|
'Israel can do no wrong'
'Israel is just defending herself'
while innocent civilians DIE.
Sheesh, what is so hard to understand? I don't see anybody here saying 'Hezbollah, right or wrong'. Or defending Palestinian suicide bombers because they're 'defending themselves'. You people who are Zionist no matter what so blindly approve of EVERYTHING the Israeli government does that it's simply ridiculous.

4. Great call Linda. Hope you have your |

suit on though.
I've been staying out of the I/L/S/H threads. I just hate the violence period and want it ended yesterday.

No one and nothing on this earth can be loved and just let go. Everything needs help, counsel, moderation, and advice when they do something so self-harmful.

6. It seems to me that many of the attack drones who post |
|
thread after thread about how evil Israel is for daring to defend themselves and how they are targeting civilians are simply channeling their own deep seeded hatreds and prejudices and no matter what evidence is presented will always declare that Israel is evil.

Is that in Israel itself there are enough people opposed to the overly militaristic approach that the government of Israel takes all the time. In their opposition they sometimes even take to the streets to have peace marches and anti-war events
Yet here in The USA it is difficult to speak out and state that you dislike anything I mean FRI**nG anything that Israel does now or did yesterday. NEVER EVER mention that you saw as evil a clearly evil action that Israeli military undertook because you then get this huge trouncng. You are anti-Semitic. You are Anti-Jewish, etc
No I refuse the labels. I am just against the part of Israel's approach where you see LIVE FOOTAGE on CNN of helicopter gunners shooting Palestinian KIDS as they leave a burning school building (It caught fire when Arafat's compound was bombed by the Israeli government.) Helicopters low to the ground. They clearly know they are shooting KIDS.
If that is not EVIL what is??
