My boss's brother is in Iraq |
|
At lunch today she told us how things were going for him.
Two of his platoon buddies (I don't know what they call the groups) were killed last week. Three were killed about a month ago. They run missions about twice a week in tanks. She said that he tells her that many times children stand in the streets as they ride through pointing to land mines. She says that they are, of course, weighed down with all kinds of equipment in the very hot weather when they go out. A mission might take three or four days round trip. He rides in the front of the tank (the hairs on my neck stood when I heard this). He was home about three weeks ago because his father was very ill. He has a fierce loyalty to his military buddies and even though things are bad he was anxious to get back to be with them and support them. She sends him and his buddies all kinds of snacks all the time--beef jerky, candy...she keeps her conference table full of these things. One of her brother's buddies appreciates this so much he wrote her telling her he had adopted her as his sister and promises to travel to meet her when he comes home. When they aren't on missions, things are as normal as they can be in Iraq. He exercises a lot. She says they are fed well at the barracks. They eat lobster and all kinds of good food. He rides a bike to get around when not on missions. She said that he almost shot a child once because their tank was traveling and one child would not move--they cannot trust that anybody, even children will not harm them. Send some love and light their way.

Just one question if you don't mind. Is there lobster and other delicacies being served in Iraq? I usually only hear this from other sources than those who actually have loved ones serving in the military.
thank you very much. :-)

Thank you, and I wish for you and your son a peaceful and blessed future free from the horror that Bushco has instigated. :grouphug:

17. I was shocked to hear they were eating lobster too |
|
I don't know if he was making up stuff or not, because she said he's lost some weight, too. He used to be kind of beefy, she says he's pretty svelte now. Maybe it's that they don't take much with them when they are away from the main camp two or three days a week.

Something that George W. Bush will never have to face.
Abu Ghraib is too good for this SOB.

16. There have been several incidents of that, unfortunately |
|
Checkpoint shootings often were the scenario. If they can't understand English and you have no Arabic speaker there to tell people to stop, things can go wrong especially if people are tense.

5. I wish him well, but some of the DUers have a track record of |

openly not supporting our troops. I do not associate with their remarks.

And I agree (and hope I'm right) that they are a small minority of troublemakers. One of my best friends has been there twice, I would never say anything against guys like him.

|
I met the kid he was showing signs of PTSD but they sent him back for the third time. I thnk that why he took on Hastert .Hell John's a Navy vet and cares a lot about us veterans. He could of held a fund raiser for himself but instead held one for the Veterans Midwest Homeless Shelter. The kids is great hope he beats Hastert

21. My brother is over there. We're close. Nobody gives a shit,.... |
|
,...about what he's having to cope with. Well, nobody who supposedly "represents" him or us.
I care about him. DUers have shown total support for him. But, the neocons couldn't give a rats ass about him.
