Anyone watching the Colbert report? That caption killed me.....

I know not everyone may appreciate Colbert's "My black friend" bits but after years of watching some Repukes very self-consciously point out there "minority pals" (heck having been one of those minority "friends") once or twice, it cracks me up......

I was talking about the caption under his pic when he came on, which said "Julian Bond: A Black Man"-I think it should be self-evident why thats funny.

I know a lot about Bond and think he is awesome! Geez you guys here are very touchy....

6. Some of us older folk remember when Julian stood up

when it wasn't safe to stand up. I still remember my mother waking me up to hear the chants for Julian Bond at one of the Democratic Conventions - 1964? I think he took a second delegation to the convention to challenge the all-white delegation from Georgia.

As I keep telling my kids, you can't imagine what life was like back then for blacks, women or gays.

which is precisely why it is funny that he gets a caption "A black man"...If Colbert were the O'Reillyesque commentator he pretends to be, thats exactly what he would see looking at someone like Bond.


I wasn't attacking Bond..I admire him a lot and was a little puzzled that I am being told to stfu for a harmless comment appreciating a bit on the Repore...
