I'm the head of repuke PR leading up to 2006
my "leader" is in the toilet in the polls

the public says they'll overwhelmingly vote for Democrats for Congress in 2006 midterms

what do I do? Two things. Unite the remnants of my base, and reclaim "soft" defectors:

1. Kill a high-profile terrorist.
2. Scare everyone with new terror threats.
3. Take a high-profile stance on a "meaningless" (to me) social issue to give the most insane fringe of my base a "victory."

Divide the liburls:
1. Immigration! The Mescans are coming! The Mescans are coming! Hide the jobs and the women!
2. Call in my Iraq markers and get Israel to massively escalate violence in the ME, so the pro-Israel liburls will fight with the pro-Palestinian liburls.

How'd I do?

2. You left out one item.
Keep the elections LOCAL. Don't let the Democrats nationalize the race into a referendum on the Dear Leader. Let each member work on the key pork barrel issues for his district.

If the race is local, the incumbent almost always wins.

3. Problems solve
Isreal/ Lebanon conflict will neutralise the Iraq war issue.
Next step of escalation will not really give Americans a choice.
