Dead children as propaganda
This is a headline at The Canadian National Post. ( http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/story.html?id=6be46fd7-89c9-4eb3-999d-68d7a714406b )

I'm sorry. If there are dead children resultant of hostilities from one nation to another, it is not propaganda. It's news, facts and tragedy.

When non combatants die it should be news. Especially at the rate they die today. Over 50,000 Iraqis so far. How many Lebanese before the new war is over?

9. I find it funny you peddle RW talking points about Chavez.
He is not a perfect leader...far from it, but he's a might better about tolerating dissent than many leaders would be if they suffered through a violent military coup and an attack on the economy perpetrated by corporatist elements in the country. Criticisms based on fact are fair, and I would characterize myself as a supporter with several criticisms of Chavez' methodology, but overgeneralizations of him aren't constructive.

12. The Post is Canada's version of the National Review
a vile, vile neoconservative paper started by Conrad Black, the guy who has been indicted in the US and has friends like Perle and Kissinger. Black lost the paper but his good buddies bought it and are keeping up it's right wing propaganda.

14. Iran: Yellow badge report false
Iranian lawmakers hurried to disavow a report that the Muslim country would enforce a dress code requiring Jews to where a yellow armband; Iranian Jewish MP: The report damaged Jewish image in Iran

http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3252934,00.html

<snip>

"Iranian officials adamantly denied on Saturday reports claiming that the Muslim state was passing a law that would require minority members to identify themselves with various colored armbands – and, reminiscent of the Holocaust, Jews would be forced to wear yellow badges."

<snip>

"On Friday the Canadian Newspaper National Post reported that Jews would have to wear yellow armbands, based on the claims of Iranian expatriates living in Canada. Shortly after the article was printed, the newspaper backed off from the report and published a second article expressing reservations about the report’s credibility. However, the flames were already ignited as the story quickly spread around world news media."

13. "...the outgrowth of the increasing radicalization in the region."
Edited on Thu Jul-20-06 11:33 PM by TahitiNut
It's sometimes pretty easy to see where critical thinking skills have taken a (permanent?) holiday in the positions people adopt. Here we see a person ascribing wrongful behavior to "the increasing radicalization in the region" as some Original Cause, itself come from nowhere - a little like God. This is a very convenient "world view" - just pick some ephemeral First Mover (always associated with the target of blame) and stop there. Use some passive mode grammar ("it happened") and take no responsibility for making any objective assessment of the further causality.

I guess when one's carrying a load of mental bullshit, it's easiest if they just drop it on someone else's doorstep. :eyes:
