Do you really think these children actually have real malice in their hearts or are they having a little shared 'naughty' fun--behaving in such a way as to fit in and join with the sentiments of the adults around them...
(which, alas, will probably grow into malice as they get older and understand more). Then again, they may actually have experienced the violence themselves and/or known relatives or family friends that have been killed/injured by it. The blame for such is naturally assigned to "the other side" regardless of who was doing what and naturally, the children will join in the kind of hate held by the rest of their society. Their hatred will grow deeper with their age, experience and understanding.
There's no doubt, though, where there's violence and conflict between groups, the children do absorb it; it affects how they develop and who they become. Which is why all the damage we've done in IRAQ and elsewhere is going to have serious consequences in the future. Just as the 1982 invasion of Lebanon, by Israel, was the cause that gave birth to Hezbollah (which has now come back to bite them in the arse), who knows what future retribution will be taken by those youngsters in Lebanon, whose personalities are being shaped under the current violence being inflicted by Israel, when they come of age. Given all the violence and war going on, practically everywhere... the future looks to be as violent as ever.
Perhaps we'll discover a "peace" pill that has nothing but healthful effects (maybe it's a weight-controlling, anti-oxidant, vitamin supplement with anti-depressant properties), and it will be so cheap that a month's supply is less than a penny, and the tablets remain fresh for decades and aren't damaged by heat and/or humidity (such as one might find in a place like IRAQ (which is probably mainly just heat)--since we destroyed their electrical capacity and the resistance keeps destroying what we repair). It will be easy to manufacture locally, so as to reduce distribution costs (as well as to provide jobs). It makes people feel good, improves sleep, maintains health and weight--so there's reason people will want to take it... and it strengthens the part of the brain that provides inhibitory instincts as well as providing a strong calming effect (as well as treating social shyness and impulse control** disorders). Perhaps governments will instead add this to the water supply (imagine, drinking water to get chilled out)(imagine the government controlling the population via chemical additives in the food/water supply (ever wonder why so many Americans seem either apathetic or violent?)). In any case, the Human Race will have finally eliminated war. Sure, they had to chemically depress their base animal instincts to do it (until a better genetic engineering solution can be found and implemented by means of a communicable virus of course). Sigh...
Imagine. A peaceful world. A world where everyone spends their time and resources on productive, useful and peaceful causes... Imagine, in the U.S. alone, $440 Billion Dollars spent on improving our infrastructure, employing our citizens, ending poverty, educating everyone, building houses, producing healthy food, providing medical care, medical research, and research and advancement across the board. Nobody living in fear. Nobody suffering the after effects of war, oppression, occupation or terrorism.
It's not a good sign... I can't really imagine it.
