4. Thank you , Rex. I've been reading this horseshit all day.
Our guys/gals/soldiers write on bombs, everyone near a bomb does it. Get over it.

I hate the fact that it disturbs people, but this an all too common occurrence. If people here are really upset about it then welcome to another ugly face of war.

So easy to write from a safe distance. I wish we would all go back to swords & shields. At least that way it would still be personal. :sarcasm:

7. Selling It
What we see here is the selling of the war. Kids like to write their names on things, and everyone has seen the old movies with cool stuff written on the bombs.
What drives it is simple greed.
From the expansion of the Roman empire to the war in Iraq, they're all driven by greed.
The richest parasites in society eventually decide that they're not getting richer fast enough from regular commerce. And war is a handy economic stimulant.
Whether its looting friendly or enemy treasure doesn't matter. A chest of plunder is just as sweet as a no bid contract.
Consider the vested economic interest the Bush Klan has in the war. Daddy's Carlyle group needs physical control over a pipeline route. Cheny's Halliburton needs fat contracts from which to embezzle.
If you examine the portfolios of congressmen inordinately in love with the war you'll see a fat stack of war stocks.
Behind anyone pushing for war is a social parasite eager to line their pockets.

15. Here's my thread on these pix...
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x1681280

and I hear there are more threads. These pix are making the rounds-- probably not as the kind of propaganda they were originally intended for.

Someone dug up pix of little kids on the other side dressing up in "suicide bomber" suits with toy bombs. I suppose it's all the logical extension of GI Joe dolls and kids' war games, but it's just so sick.

Children are already victims of war, but it's not our place to get them involved in it-- it's our place to protect them from it as much as we can.

Unless we insist on feeding the hate and preparing the kids to be the next willing soldiers in the wars of hate.

16. Actually, Hezbollah is the agressor, not Israel.
Edited on Fri Jul-21-06 02:24 AM by Clarkie1
Israel is responding to attack. The reason war has not ended yet in the Middle East is because members of Hezbollah and Hamas love their own children less than the Israelis love theirs.

Israel want endless peace; Hamas and Hezbollah want endless war.

Flame away....

24. Incorrect yet again
Israel has never shown any intention of having peace.

Funny how Hamas observed a ceasefire practically to perfection even when Israel was shooting little girls dead and occupying a lion's share of Palestine (and planting Zionist settlements) and worse. What happens? Israel SHELLS A FAMILY. Israel has always been belligerent and aggressive, undeniably guilty of wrongdoing (ethnic cleansing, murder, land theft, I could go on) and oppression.

Nice try, but your delusion changes nothing.

In the same way Iraq is the agressor because they tried to kill Bush's dad.

19. I don't know...
Do you really think these children actually have real malice in their hearts or are they having a little shared 'naughty' fun--behaving in such a way as to fit in and join with the sentiments of the adults around them...
(which, alas, will probably grow into malice as they get older and understand more). Then again, they may actually have experienced the violence themselves and/or known relatives or family friends that have been killed/injured by it. The blame for such is naturally assigned to "the other side" regardless of who was doing what and naturally, the children will join in the kind of hate held by the rest of their society. Their hatred will grow deeper with their age, experience and understanding.

There's no doubt, though, where there's violence and conflict between groups, the children do absorb it; it affects how they develop and who they become. Which is why all the damage we've done in IRAQ and elsewhere is going to have serious consequences in the future. Just as the 1982 invasion of Lebanon, by Israel, was the cause that gave birth to Hezbollah (which has now come back to bite them in the arse), who knows what future retribution will be taken by those youngsters in Lebanon, whose personalities are being shaped under the current violence being inflicted by Israel, when they come of age. Given all the violence and war going on, practically everywhere... the future looks to be as violent as ever.

Perhaps we'll discover a "peace" pill that has nothing but healthful effects (maybe it's a weight-controlling, anti-oxidant, vitamin supplement with anti-depressant properties), and it will be so cheap that a month's supply is less than a penny, and the tablets remain fresh for decades and aren't damaged by heat and/or humidity (such as one might find in a place like IRAQ (which is probably mainly just heat)--since we destroyed their electrical capacity and the resistance keeps destroying what we repair). It will be easy to manufacture locally, so as to reduce distribution costs (as well as to provide jobs). It makes people feel good, improves sleep, maintains health and weight--so there's reason people will want to take it... and it strengthens the part of the brain that provides inhibitory instincts as well as providing a strong calming effect (as well as treating social shyness and impulse control** disorders). Perhaps governments will instead add this to the water supply (imagine, drinking water to get chilled out)(imagine the government controlling the population via chemical additives in the food/water supply (ever wonder why so many Americans seem either apathetic or violent?)). In any case, the Human Race will have finally eliminated war. Sure, they had to chemically depress their base animal instincts to do it (until a better genetic engineering solution can be found and implemented by means of a communicable virus of course). Sigh...

Imagine. A peaceful world. A world where everyone spends their time and resources on productive, useful and peaceful causes... Imagine, in the U.S. alone, $440 Billion Dollars spent on improving our infrastructure, employing our citizens, ending poverty, educating everyone, building houses, producing healthy food, providing medical care, medical research, and research and advancement across the board. Nobody living in fear. Nobody suffering the after effects of war, oppression, occupation or terrorism.

It's not a good sign... I can't really imagine it.

Depression is now the fourth-leading cause of the global disease burden and the leading cause of disability worldwide.
