Report of more civilian casualties in Iraq as a result of US raid.
US raid in Iraq leaves civilian casualties

Two women, young girl are among six civilians killed in US military raid near Baquba.

BAQUBA - US soldiers killed six civilians in an anti-insurgent raid in Iraq on Friday, local police said, while the US military said its forces killed one suspected "terrorist" and wounded several people.

Police said the dead in the raid near Baquba, northeast of Baghdad, included two women and a young girl, and that 20 people were wounded. Pictures taken by an AFP photographer in the aftermath of the raid showed six bodies of civilians, including that of a young child.

"As the troops began to secure the area, they received small arms fire from the roof top of one of the initial target buildings and the terrorists attempted to reposition themselves between and on top of the adjacent buildings," the US military said.

Mohammed Omar, a resident of the area, said that local guards had opened fire on the US soldiers thinking they were insurgents.

The US military said those wounded in the dawn operation against Al-Qaeda members were treated on the spot and at coalition medical facilities.

1. must have been one of those towns they surrounded looking for al queda.
looks like we're good at finding women and children and not so good at finding terrorists.

2. no corroborating reports so far, but these are the type of reports
that have preceeded confirmed incidents months later.

I read about the new increased occupations in several other towns. It's amazing how they keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result.

3. Why don't we see live pictures from Iraq any more
We only get to see Israel and Lebanon?

We watch Israeli soldiers bombarding cities and towns, but we rarely get to see US soldiers bombarding Iraqi cities and towns.

4. All of the major resources have gone to Lebanon and Israel.
I think since we occupy Iraq, there is less opportunity for movement of the media, and it's dangerous. In Lebanon, the journalists and cameras were invited in to view and record the destruction. I haven't heard of the same kidnappings and reprisals by the Lebanese on civilians there as in Iraq where residents are being assaulted by other residents.

In Iraq our military keeps a lid on their activities. Raids are presented in highminded terms which don't resemble anything the Iraqis experience. There is definitely a multi million dollar effort to control the media there, with fake news, biased news, and active aggression and assaults on journalists.

8. Military confirms deaths
Five Iraqis, including women and child, killed in U.S. raid

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - The U.S. military says two women and a child are among five civilians killed in a coalition ground and air assault northeast of Baghdad.

A U.S. statement says troops were looking for al-Qaida terrorists when gunmen began firing from the rooftops of buildings.

Iraqi police say a single man was firing warning shots because he mistook the soldiers for militiamen. But the U.S. military says "several men" were seen moving around on the rooftops in Baqouba.

The statement says ground troops and a helicopter gunship fired at the buildings only after occupants ignored repeated warnings to leave.

The statement from the military says, "We regret that civilians are hurt or killed while coalition forces search to rid Iraq of terrorism."
