I repeat, this is nothing less than an ethnic cleansing of the Shiites of southern Lebanon, an assault on an entire civilian population's way of life. Aside from ecology, it is no different from what Saddam Hussein did to the Marsh Arabs of southern Iraq, and the Israelis are doing it for exactly the same sorts of reasons that Saddam did.

The question is who provoked whom first, and did it really start with the missiles, or could the arrest and holding without charges of Lebanese citizens been the spark that started the fire?

2. Israel's greatest weapon is the refugee, and it's clear they intend to use

it. A humanitarian disaster is coming to Lebanon.
The long term solution Israel is pursuing with the invasion which is coming is to empty out the enclave of Shia Muslims from southern Lebanon and to encourage other groups to take their lands. If the people Hezbollah come from are scattered to refugee camps across borders and to the north, Israel hopes, Hezbollah will vanish.
