Sen. Inhofe: ‘Gore Is Full of Crap,’ ‘All Recent Science…Confirms This Thing Is A Hoax’

Yesterday, Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) attacked Al Gore and global warming science, claiming that Gore was “full of crap” on global warming.

Appearing on Glenn Beck’s radio show and CNN television program, Inhofe said that the International Panel on Climate Climate Change (IPCC), which concluded that global warming was real and caused by humans, used “one scientist.” Inhofe added: “ll of the recent science…it confirms that I was right on this thing. This thing is a hoax.”

Actually, “all of the recent science” — without exception — accepts that global warming is real and caused by humans. The IPCC didn’t involve “one scientist.” It involved thousands of scientists from over 120 countries, including so-called “climate skeptics” and industry representatives. The National Academy of Sciences recently concluded that the one study singled out by Inhofe for criticism, which was authored by Michael Mann, “has subsequently been supported by an array of evidence.”

and Public Works. Stevens is Chairman of the Commerce Committee.

We don't need a Director of Irony (as Rahm Emanuel said)- we need at least an entire Department.

I would recommend consolidating it with the Department of Homeland Security.

And so many Americans still believe if it was "on TV", "on the radio", "in the newspaper".... it has to be true.

18. Journalists are
the true representatives of the people, keeping the politicians honest and calling them on their mistakes, errors or outright lies and their job is to enlighten the American people as to the truth so that we can make good decisions.

I believe the people in the Soviet Union did not have this fourth estate to look after them and had to accept whatever their government told them as the truth, and this was the fundamental reason their society collapsed, because they could not make good decisions.

I hope and pray one day CNN hires some of those journalists.

P.S. As Glenn Beck is obviously not a journalist, what is he?

Que in crickets & lonesome wind sound FX.

Sorry folks, but if no Democrats counter him and call him out on this lie, that means he won.

He won.

If we were the winners, every Democrat with media access would be on TV calling him a "liar" and giving the details as to why he is a "liar."

Then they would ask the interviewer, to their face, why their network refused to check his facts and confirm whehter he was telling the truth.

We should be doing this every time they lie, but instead we just let it slide.

I seem to recall seeing several top Democrats on many different TV shows.

And certainly he will have Democrat on at some point- but we know that whoever that is will be too frightened to call him out.

And if Democrats are not being given equal time on the networks, I've never heard one SAY SO to their faces. Why is that?

Okay- now come up with another excuse as to why our leaders always let Republicans lie about them without ever calling it out. We also need to craft an excuse as to why Democrats never do anything to expose media bias.

Elections are won on excuses, afterall.

Does Chris Matthews hold a gun to Democrats from under the table and say : "If you dare discuss current issues or call a republican a liar, that is IT for you!!!"

All the DEM has to do is say "Senator So-And So lied on your network, and none of you guys caught it, or you let it slide on purpose..."

It would take like 5 seconds to do so.

Are we saying that whenever Republicans lie about us, we can use the excuse that it was not said on the particular show we have access to, so therefore the lie is apparently okay?

Hmmm- okay, I guess that is a winner of an excuse, but the problem is the lie is still out there, unchallenged.

While you hone & fine-tune your excuses, I'll continue to demand that Democrats grow a spine when it comes to GOP lies & media bias.

Edited on Fri Jul-21-06 03:57 PM by Dr Fate
Which Democrat with media access is claiming that he is not allowed to tell the truth due to pre-interviews?

If a Democrat is being ordered not to discuss truthful, current topics in a pre-interview, I'd love to hear them expose that.

Who is blackmailing or holding a gun to these Democrats, ordering them not to discuss/expose the existence of censorship through pre-interviews?

Another great excuse, but it still allows the lie to stay out there, unchallenged.

I would rather insist that we fight lies rather than make excuses, but that is just me.

BTW- you brought Matthews into this- surely Democrats have access to the same network that Beck is on- if not, I've never heard them say so. They could still call Republican A or Republican B a liar on whatever show they are on.

No one has to know the reference- the viewer just has to know that Republican A or Repub B lied on TV, and no journalist or anchor challenged that lie.

This is just sad. I mean one day you hear Republicans blaming scientist for not making up there mind on global warming so they know what they do. The next day you hear Republicans say scientist have made up their mind and global warming is fake. Which is it? Both GOP talking points can't be true at the same time (in this case neither is true). When it comes to global warming what IS clear is republicans are more concerned with talking points that taking action. What a surprise.

He is still fighting the cold war, so there couldn't be any global warming???? You tell me!

71. Living in Illinois
it is estimated that our weather here will be much like that of Oklahoma if global warming is not checked. Of course the area I live it will also be under water if the ice cap continues to melt so why I am worrying about Inhofe being in charge of my life and having an adverse effect on my home and property here?

Help us Al Gore. You may be our only hope against this stupidity!

82. Not in OK - they'd vote for a goat if it had "Jesus" on its forehead
OTOH, it's Glenn Beck - what's his viewership, 75,000? 80,000?

76. Inhofe needs to speak out more. He'll be sued. K&R
There is a mass torts firm out there that has been collecting public statements from so called experts since about 2001. They are cataloging them and plan to sue when the actual impact of global climate change hits in a big way. The rationale is simple: nobody who challenges man made climate change as an "expert" is doing so from expertise since there is zero, as in 0, scientificly supported argument for it in the professional literature. If the "expert" has any ties to any industry group, that's all the hook that's needed to tie them all into a "conspiracy" to promote false knowledge leading to harmful outcomes, ergo, "pay up morans, you helped create the problem by polluting and by paying people to deny the pollution had harmful effect." I'm not a lawyer, I just play one on TV, but I think that when you do harm plus you propogate lies to cover up the harm to victims, you're really in big trouble in the judgement department.

All of them need to speak up louder, right into the microphone.

83. An actual quote from Sen. Inhofe:
People are, well, only human. We know that. The rule of law is borne out in identifying, condemning, and punishing those who violate the standards on which we all agree. This is exactly what we do in America.
-James Inhofe

Hey senator, listen to yourself for once. As a standard to which we all agree, your lack of knowledge in global warming requires you to be punished.

He isnt up for re-election any time soon?

Oh, another good quote:

A country's adhering to the rule of law does not mean that its citizens will not do bad things.
-James Inhofe

Just remember folks, the 9:30 show is completely different than the 10:30 show! Enjoy the meal!

86. More projectile vomit from him
Republicans not warming up to Gore's polemic
Domenici said he's not interested. But if Domenici is indifferent, Sen. James Inhofe is downright hostile Inhofe is chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, which has authority over the environmental areas not covered by Domenici's committee.

The Oklahoma Republican compares "An Inconvenient Truth," which he doesn't plan to see, to Adolf Hitler's book "Mein Kampf."

"If you say the same lie over and over again, and particularly if you have the media's support, people will believe it," Inhofe said.

"An Inconvenient Truth" = "Mein Kampf". Um, yeah sure. Far be it from me to question a neo-con's expertise on fascism....

Think Progress makes it appear in the headline as if Inhofe said "crap" here, which he didn't.

85. Inhofe is on the short list
of pols who need to be rusticated and re-educated.
I think perhaps a few years doing garbage work, as symbolic
restitution for the stuff he spews.

He, and his belligerent ilk constitute an American archetype
of the hateful, ignorant, bumpkin/leader, handling snakes with one hand,
finger poised over the kill button with the other.
