Today's reason for being terrified of George W. Bush

His Beautiful Mind

This is scary:

In the administration's view, the new conflict is not just a crisis to be managed. It is also an opportunity to seriously degrade a big threat in the region, just as Bush believes he is doing in Iraq.

Each crisis is an opportunity to wage a war they wanted to wage. The president believes Iraq is a success story. No one will tell him anything else. He understands nothing, yet believes he knows better than everyone:

"He thinks he is playing in a longer-term game than the tacticians," said the former official, who spoke anonymously so he could discuss his views candidly.

Be afraid.

Be very afraid.

3. All future Presidents...
need to have either served in active (and heavy hitting) combat OR have traveled to an active conflict area and observed first hand the horror of war.

That, plus a psych exam!

8. I'll definitely vouch for the psych exam as well
as a resume that shows they are capable of the responsibilities just like any other executive in business would have to qualify for before he can ask for the job. I'm not so sure about the combat requirement. We have had good presidents in war time who never were in the military or in combat.

26. Perhaps the psych exam can attest that they understand...
Edited on Fri Jul-21-06 12:08 PM by hlthe2b
fully the human cost of war, have some sense of compassion and conscience and can internalize/empathize with human suffering... I'd settle for that, given the obvious psychopaths/sociopaths in the current administration.

17. I'd settle for an MRI or CT to make sure the brain was working
on all cylinders! I think he's brain damaged.

Psych exams (as was pointed out to me recently in another thread) can be easily abused and misread to serve an ulterior purpose. But yes, I also think he's mentally ill.

...twice (once with a plastic turkey).

It's not the input, it's the processor that ain't working.

5. It IS an attack on Hizbollah
This is not retaliation over two Israeli troops, it never has been. It's always been an attack to get Hizbollah out of southern Lebanon and create a buffer zone.

DUers can decide whatever they want about Israel and military action, but at least make the decision based on reality.

Do they have a right to route out a militia group that has been pouring rockets on them for 3+ years when the country the group is hiding in won't stop it. That's the question.

10. "create a buffer zone"?
Edited on Fri Jul-21-06 11:11 AM by TahitiNut
Interesting that the lands of another country must be used as a "buffer zone" ... God forbid I put a fence on my own property!!

Let's do the same thing in Mexico. When do we start the bombing? That'd sure be better than a fence, huh?

14. We better think about Mexico
So do you think the Minutemen have a right to create their own border security? Because that's what Hizbollah amounts to in Lebanon. What if some of them decide to go over to the Mexico side to stop people from using the tunnels or to stop the coyotes? At what point do you think Mexico would say enough is enough and attack a Minuteman group in the US??

Yes, there is supposed to be a buffer zone and even France supports a buffer zone with increased UN peacekeeping. I don't understand why you wouldn't support that, unless you've bought into the anti-Jew Zionists who are going to take over the world insanity.

19. Gee ... how did you get the idea I'm against a buffer zone?
Edited on Fri Jul-21-06 11:23 AM by TahitiNut
I thought I was clear. Let's raze a strip of land in Mexico fifty miles wide, wipe out all living things, destroy the buildings, and plow the ground! That'll sure be better than a fence! Golly! It's a superb idea! Hell, let's make it 100 miles wide! After all, no skin off our noses, right?

While we're at it, let's think about doing that in Canada, too. Sure wouldn't want to show ethnic imbalance now, would we?

21. What about Canada? You know we need a buffer zone there too.
I think also that Mexico needs a buffer zone in the United States.
Germany needs one also in Poland. Poland needs one in Germany.

13. Why should DimSon care about the long term? As he said in an interview
about his legacy, he indicated he shouldn't care since he'd be dead anyway, so why chould he care about the long term outcome in the ME?

I wake up every morning afraid of something stupid the Chimperor might do.
