4. Is that the embassy that the U.S. put over $600million into building
...that will be a terrorist price second only to the WTC.

New numbers in on the cost to U.S. of fighting the war on terror:

<snip>
'War on terror' cost hits $430bn
By Emad Mekay

WASHINGTON - The United States' "global war on terror" has cost the country at least US$430 billion over the past five years in military and diplomatic efforts, according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the watchdog arm of the US Congress.

The GAO warns that future costs may be difficult to estimate because of irregularities in how the Pentagon does its accounting and because of unforeseen events in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The report comes only weeks before the fifth anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the United States, which kick-started the US "war on terror".

The figures are particularly important because they show how much the war is still costing the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan years after both operations began, and at a time when the US is facing rising health-care costs and budget deficits. <more>

7. I don't think the new embassy is inside the Green Zone.
I think it is across the river, but I can't swear.

I don't think the Green Zone is big enough to encompass the new, lavish embassy they are building.

8. The US embassy is located within the Green Zone
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Zone

Since the handover of sovereignty to Iraqis, many of the facilities in the Green Zone have been turned over to the new Iraqi government. It is still the base for western private military contractors, and home to the U.S. and British embassies. The permanent U.S. embassy is currently being built in the southern Green Zone, overlooking the Tigris River.

9. Thanks. I didn't realize the new embassy was still in the
Green Zone. That must be a huge zone.
