Prediction: Cheney will "retire" at the end of this year. And then,
whoever the Rs want to run as their nomination for President in the 2008 election will be installed as the VP to replace Cheney. This will give that person a "leg up" on the 2008 race and a great deal of free publicity. They will be featured as much as possible, similar to how Gore was featured prominently in the final 2 years of the Clinton administration. Ostensibly, Cheney will "retire" for "health reasons," but it will really be a political move to promote whoever they want to run in 2008.

4. That may be Rove's deepest wish...
but I suspect nothing short of his defibrillator "suffering" a massive malfunction --resulting in Cheney leaving feet first-- will rid us of this bastion of evil.

5. Dick Cheney will never voluntarily give up power
He will be here for the remainder of the term unless he's impeached.

6. i think that's unlikely, the more i think about it, the more i view Cheney
as being the lead in all the mess created. the monkey is an ignorant evil ass and would go along with anything when told it's what God appointed him to do. but the actual decisions of who to go after, what issues to emphasize etc is the evil beast Cheney's doing.

we always knew he was more in charge. remember, he picked himself to be vp.

10. Perhaps. But I know who the Anointed One will be. Read on....
Condi.

Bush has to secure his "legacy" -- i.e. world domination by the Bush Crime Family. Condi is the only person he can totally rely on to carry on Bush Crime Family interests after he departs.

Plus, she has an appealing "story". Rags to riches kinda thing -- everybody loves that.

Nice looking and photogenic (especially compared to Frist) -- EXTREMELY important characteristics as Americans choose their model of the Leader of the Free World. She can smile prettily while lying outrageously and is the most genial hard-boiled bitch since ancient Rome (that's why George and Darth Cheney keep her around).

African American. Female. Which will be turned into weapons of intimidation against her Democratic rival. Anyone who dares to criticize her or question her performance as National Security Advisor (:puke:) or Secretary of State (:puke: :puke:) will be excoriated as an ignorant Neanderthal racist woman hater. And Democrats will faint at such charges, even though they are absurdly false. Republicans will crow about being the REAL progressive party. It will be as stupid as W claiming to be an "mp3" to Al Gore's "8 track", but stupid people will eat it up.

The fiction will be irresistable.

George has already started the "Condi 2008" campaign by -- 1) going to the NAACP gathering and talking about Condi as an American civil rights success story (no need for affirmative action anymore, folks) and 2) turning incompetent Condi into the new Middle East Envoy. No matter how poorly she performs -- at least to our reality-based eyes; in plutocrat terms she is doing exactly what they want -- the press will breathlessly describe her as a beautiful rock star, dazzling even her enemies who uncontrollably lust after her, who will finally definitively certainly absolutely bring permanent peace to the Middle East. If she fucks up, all she has to say is that the Arabs are not ready to be reasonable, so bombs away faster pussycat kill kill kill. If she fucks up, no matter, because Bush's wacky evangelical base have no expectation that Armageddon is supposed to go well.

And you know what? There are people out there stupid enough, and out of touch enough, to respond to the fiction that will be created around her, to vote for her. I'd say she has an excellent chance of winning.

Not sure about the Cheney thing. It's going to be hard to pry his cold dead fingers off of absolute power, even though he has amassed an incomparable fortune that he could use to fund further power grabs from private life. We shall see.

She is perhaps the most unattractive black woman I have seen since Moms Mabley who was at least lovable and had some charm.

19. I should have made it clear that this was all "fiction"
Ha ha -- we have something in common, my friend -- ha ha -- we are both old enough to know who Moms Mabley was!!!!!!!!!! Moms was so cool! I remember when, in the midst of the Cold War, she declared the Russians would meet their end in Harlem, where ladies had knives and knew how to use them. (Ha ha -- I know you don't need a walker yet, but I bet no one asks you for ID at the liquour store any more....)

I don't buy into the "Condi is a beautiful rock star" baloney. I also don't buy into the "Ann Coulter is HOT" baloney that you even see here at DU.

But PLEASE reREAD my post!! I just said she was prettier than Frist -- and I am sticking to that.

To me, Condi is CREE-EE-PY. Then again, I have good taste. The point I was trying to make was, there are people stupid enough to find Condi attractive and think she is competent.

Condi "Seriously Fried" Rice, coquettishly declaring that she won't run, isn't interested, but knowing full well that she has no goddamn clue what to do with this SECSTATE gig, so she may as well listen to her beloved, George, and hope that she gets the "Fuck up? MOVE UP!" vote of confidence!!!

13. I had the most wonderful dream,...
Edited on Fri Jul-21-06 11:59 PM by Just Me
,...(altho' some would call it something other than wonderful).

Rummy's arteries clogged so bad, they couldn't save him (cloggers in the brain kinda' stroke). Two days later, Cheney fell flat dead in front of a fund-raising audience. Four days later, puddin' pie Bush went on a cruise to a mental health facility, never to be released.

Within weeks, the AEI neocon front lost all funding. And, best of all, the Carlyle Group's assets were seized by a joint FBI and (incredibly) WTO discovery of laundering and tax evasion.

Can you imagine such an incredible series of events? If THAT series of events happened, I'd believe it at a "God's reckoning". I would.

On edit: the whole WORLD rejoiced!!!!

16. Vice Pretzelnut McCain
VP 500-Pounder will pick Jebthro as his running mate in '08.

After a few months into 2009, Neil Bush and Scott Hinckley will make a dinner date.

Then it's 8 more years of the Bushler dynasty.

I remember how all the republicans celebrated when Gerald Ford was elected President by a 50-state landslide!!!!!!

(IMHO any serious repug candidate for president is gonna distance himself from Bush Boy. Becoming Bush-Boy's VP wouldn't really do that.)

22. Brian Williams of NBC Nightly News
Before he became the anchor of the NBC Nightly News (before Brokaw left), Brian Williams appeared on the Imus show. This was immediately after the second inauguration of gwb.....anyhoo, Brian said that the rumor in Washington was exactly as you opined in your original post. I posted this scenario several times here on DU. It really does sound like a likely contingency plan (ala rove) if the pukes are still dramatically down in the polls.
