Crimes Against Humanity
Crimes against humanity: murder, extermination, enslavement, deportation, and other inhumane acts committed against civilian populations, before or during the war; or persecutions on political, racial or religious grounds in execution of or in connection with any crime within the jurisdiction of the Tribunal, whether or not in violation of the domestic law of the country where perpetrated.

International relations scholars have broadly defined "crimes against humanity" as acts so grave, on a scale so large, that their very execution diminishes the human race as a whole.

These descriptions merely beg the rhetorical question in my opinion. Why aren't Bush and his neo-con cronies on trial? I don't know about you, but I feel as if the human race has been diminished in the last six years.

1. They won't go on trial (and I am of the firm opinion they should) until
another country captures them.

I don't think the US will ever allow them to be put on trial, or offer them up freely.

If I became president, I would gladly offer them up; but I doubt that even a dem president will do so.

3. I would too. In a heartbeat.
Add that to the reasons why I'd never be elected president.

2. diminished, absolutely
it will be a very LONG time to for humanity to crawl out of this horror. Bush didn't invent war or war crimes but has done irreparable damage to humanity by portraying them as acceptable acts on the road to "freedom & democracy". We are all diminished by the acts and words of these war criminals.
SHAME, SHAME, SHAME!

Bombing in Iraq Kills Mostly Children
27 Die in Suicide Attack in Baghdad as U.S. Troops Hand Out Candy and Toys (2005 headline Washington Post-just interesting) now likely things are even worse- I don't think our soldiers can even be out and about enough to hand out much candy and toys

Rice sees bombs as birth pangs (ugh)
Condoleezza Rice has described the plight of Lebanon as a part of the "birth pangs of a new Middle East" and said that Israel should ignore calls for a ceasefire. FULL STORY http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/E4D19123-9DD3-11D1-B44E-006097071264.htm
• Bush rushes bombs to Israel (according to NY Times)

7. Bombs are birth pangs????? WTF
What a disaster for the whole world, this neocon hijacking of the US's military might. She also said:

"This is a different Middle East. It's a new Middle East. It's hard, We're going through a very violent time," the US secretary of state said.

Everything's changed since 9-11. It's neo, neo and hard, hard work. And lord knows she was working on this long before 9-11.

9. I think we have lowered ourselves to the level of
some other countries like China, which is new for us. I think the criminal element that runs other countries must be happy we are sinking so low. It makes things easier for them.

10. Why aren' t they on trial?
It's pretty simple, really. Nobody has the power (as opposed, say, to the authority) to do it.

Really. Who do you think can do it, and how are they going to enforce it?

Too bad, but there it is.

11. Agreed, which is why I used the phrase "rhetorical question."
The lack of power is frustrating as hell.
