Valerie Plame's CIA Unit Spied at 3rd-World Nuke Conference

Jean C. Edwards is a former CIA agent who recently listed Valerie Plame's famous CIA front company Brewster Jennings Associates as her own former employer. Edwards attended at least three conferences with nuclear engineers and scientists from Iran, Pakistan, and other prospective and actual nuclear nations, apparently to spy on them.. The conferences were held in Trieste, Italy, in 1991, 1992, and 1995 while Edwards worked for the CIA. In the lists of attendees below, Edwards is listed as Jean C. Edwards from Jamaica.

Edwards has worked as an engineer but now works as a lawyer. Her resumes -- before they were cleaned up -- are at http://cryptome.org/cia-edwards.htm .

The resume of Jean C. Edwards on a Washington, D.C., law firm's site was sanitized to remove the Brewster Jennings reference after the Chicago Tribune contacted Edwards. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-060311plame-story,1,2504459.story??track=sto-relcon Before, the resume showed that Edwards worked for the CIA front company from 1985 to 1989 as an engineering consultant. News reports have always claimed that Brewster Jennings began operations several years later, in the 1990s. Edwards' resume shows that she had left Brewster Jennings and was working for the CIA when she attended the conferences.

A copy of the "uncorrrected" resume is below. The original also can be found at http://www.jar2.com/cryptome.ru/1/H/robert-ellmann.htm (do an Edit-Find for Edwards) with more details.

1. That's an interesting little tidbit
It's getting lost in all the Lebanon news. Seems that if we were really that worried about Iran getting nuclear weapons, we shouldn't have outed Brewster Jennings. Hmmm.

2. Not just for spying. BJA also could brief/debrief.
Those conferences were perfect cover to get with the people who knew the workings of the third-world nuclear programs, but also to exchange information with those who knew what was going on in the black market for former USSR nukes.

By exposing this network to get at Joseph Wilson and other critics of the deranged and illegal Iraq invasion, Bush damaged the national security of the United States.

That's called TREASON.

Thanks for the heads-up on some important stuff, G_j.

3. Yes, indeed.
I think it is important to pay special attention to the part about the missing Soviet weapons. Very important.

4. He didn't expose the Network to get Wilson, he used Wilson
to cover the fact that he was exposing the network. Forbes picked up several apparently unrelated stories before Plame was outed that in retrospect show that Brewster and Jennings were hot on the trail of Halliburton playing footsie with the Iranians. Little things like smuggling hardware that could be diverted to building nuclear missiles. Guess who was running Halliburton when this was going on.

It never made sense to me that anyone in the White House would know that Valerie Plame was CIA. That information would have been on a need-to-know basis. But if someone, say a Vice-President who'd been trafficking with the enemy, used his position to get info on Brewster-Jennings........
