ISRAEL: The NeoCon Silver Bullet -- Watch and Weep
Edited on Sat Jul-22-06 12:27 PM by Sensitivity
Folks, watch and weep as the Republican RW lauches the 2006 campaign using the
Israeli destruction of Hezbollah as the backdrop to a new propaganda assault about
the war on terror.

Forget Iraq. Forget Guantanamo. Bush leads the fight against the evil Hezbollah who are even more deadly than Al Qaeda.

And the Democrats must stay silent, because no one dares oppose Israel "defending herself" against the "terrorists."

1. First of all Democrats are not staying silent
and they ARE NOT SUPPORTING Hezbaloh either.

They are calling for diplomatic engagement

Incidently, Hezbollah aren't the good guys either

4. And the problem is
that there is no "diplomatic engagement" in the Bush & Co. plan. None. It's not their intent. 'Diplomacy' to them will just return the matter to the status quo. They're doing things different this time around.

Still_one, I think it's safe to say we all are very much aware that Hezbollah are not the good guys. That is really a given, now, isn't it?

9. I agree with you on all your points
This post implies that if Israel is "successful" in Lebanon, "whatever that means", that the republicans can ride to victory in 2006 and 2008, and I just don't agree with that assessment

The big issues facing Americans are Iraq, healthcare, social security, jobs, and good international relations through diplomacy, which this administration AND THE REPUBLICAN IN CONGRESS have failed miserably

Let's face it, flag burning ammendments, anti gay ammenments, etc. are not the main issues, and most people do see through that

that the GOP has used, the 'terror, terror, terror' and them promoting the fallacy that they are better or stronger at defense and that the Dems are weak.

15. Hezbollah is not pro-U.S. nor are they just "terrorists" as U.S. declared

2. Another 'Pearl Harbor' Moment
I don't know what the analogy will be this time, but that is what the Bushites, radical Republicans and neocons are going to use for the next three months.

Democrats, of course, are going to be portrayed as flip-floppers and wishy-washy on the "war on terror."

The Rovian line will be: The Democrats wanted to 'cut-and-run' in Iraq against the 'terrorists', but now they want to fight the 'terrorists' in Lebanon --- you just cannot trust the Democrats to be firm and resolved in fighting the "war on terror." Vote for Republcians that will stand with our strong commander-in-chief during a time of war.

So, all the posturing now by establishment Democrats in favor of Israel's way overboard aggression in Israel is not going to do them any good. In fact, it will be used against them (except LIEberman).

The corruptness of our campaign finance system and lobbying system has made the establishment Democrats almost irrelevant ... too bad.

6. And Here It Is ...
I just ran across this story:
Cheney uses Mideast as campaign issue

TAMPA, Fla. - Vice President Dick Cheney on Friday pointed to the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah as fresh evidence of the ongoing battle against terrorism that underscores the need to keep President Bush's Republican allies in control of Congress.

"This conflict is a long way from over," Cheney said at a fundraising appearance for a GOP congressional candidate. "It's going to be a battle that will last for a very long time. It is absolutely essential that we stay the course."

Cheney's visit to Tampa helped raise about $200,000 for the campaign of Gus Bilirakis, a state legislator who is running for the Tampa Bay area congressional seat his father, Michael, is vacating. ...

... Cheney said that as Republicans make their case to voters in the midterm elections, "it's vital that we keep issues of national security at the top of the agenda." He faulted Democrats in Congress who have pushed for a timetable for withdrawing Americans from Iraq, saying that would send the wrong message to terrorists.

5. I'm sure Hezbollah was infiltrated & fed info about soldier locations
I really don't believe that this is a coincidence, I think Israel was feeling like they had backed up enough to now create an event where they could move forward on this other front where there were a lot of weapons that needed to be taken out. There is no way that Israel was surprised by this chain of events. I wouldn't be surprised if our neocons were involved in the planning.

11. The truth.....
Beirut, July 12 (DPA) The Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah movement announced Wednesday that its guerrillas have captured two Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon.

'Implementing our promise to free Arab prisoners in Israeli jails, our strugglers have captured two Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon,' a statement by Hezbollah said.

'The two soldiers have already been moved to a safe place,' it added.

The Lebanese police said that the two soldiers were captured as they 'infiltrated' into the town of Aitaa al-Chaab inside the Lebanese border.

I also find it bizarre that CNN & AlJazeera have Israel starting the bombing in Lebanon, but the Washington Post & Wikipedia have Hezbollah launching the first rockets.

Something is ROTTEN in Denmark & I am getting a VERY SICK feeling in my gut at this time :(

7. Encouraging Israel to behave in this way is the surest path to
Edited on Sat Jul-22-06 12:30 PM by TahitiNut
... its destruction. Maybe not today, this week, this year, or this decade ... but eventually. Maybe not it alone and maybe not totally, but surely to a point where it bears no resemblance to what we see today or what's aspired for it. After many thousands or millions of more deaths and maimings. Eventually. It's fucking appalling!!!

I am under absolutely no illusion that the Neocons desire "good" for Israel or its people. None.

13. It seems that the Neocons have their hand in everything
trying to reshape the world into their vision of ???

From history we know that using violence and lying and propaganda as change agents/tools don't work.

I'm not completely sure what sort of ideal world the Neocons are trying to shape. From my understanding they aren't Christians -- and yet they seem to use the Christian fundamentalist cult members to work toward their "goal".

Is their goal a world wide two caste system -- in caste one -- the very wealthy -- corporations and in the other caste -- humans to service the corporations?
