2. And your father had an Edsel parked by a Cord?
This is the future whether we think so or not.
Not many seem to know this but the largest dump trucks are electric. No matter that they use a big diesel engine to make the voltage.
There are lots of advantages to electric motors, but the biggest one is that it can be built right into the wheel eliminating all the drive train stuff.

6. Electric may or may not be the future...
Edited on Sat Jul-22-06 04:31 PM by girl gone mad
but $80,000 two-seater sports cars which have to be recharged every 250 miles (for 4 hrs) are certainly not the future.

Edit: I hope this company will use the technology they have developed for these cars to create a car which would make sense for the average consumer.

8. This car gets attention.
That is the point. Many people still think of electric vehicles as being like glorified golf carts.
This car clearly shows that they can be cool and fast. Down the line there should be coming the more regular, family type cars and prices will come down, but at first they will be higher than what we are now buying. A reasonably priced electric car that has performance and gets 250 miles before being recharged for 4 hours would suit most Americans. It would me.

9. So do I
Because an electric car with wheel motors should be a lot cheaper to produce. there would be hundreds of fewer parts and a much simpler machine.
But ultimately mass transit makes the most sense, but we are so far from accepting that I should not even bother mentioning it.

3. It looks jazzy, but it is way too expensive, If they made a cheaper
one for folks to commute in, that would sell well.

But I guess their factory is not very big, so they can probably make do with their niche marketing.
