Is there any nation or person who has the mutual respect of |
|
Israel and Lebanon? I said in another thread that what the two groups fighting right now need is third party arbritarion. Now that I'm thinking about it, anyone know of such a group.
No one is going to fix this mess, so it is up to us here at DU to come up with solutions and try to get a hold of the people who can make a difference.

than George W. Bush? He'll just pass around a couple of brewskis and some good old fashioned bbq pork shoulder sandwiches and say "Hey Israel... Lebanon, lets cut this shit out now." Then maybe they could all stone a baby adopted by lesbians or something. Perhaps a perfectly timed soothing back rub for Benyamin Netanyahu.

as the most powerful nation in the world, is the only entity powerful enough to pressure Israel- and we all know that won't happen under bush.

They're experiencing problems with N. Korea, an allie of Iran which funds Hezbollah, and the Prime Minister gets along with Bush, as we've, erm...seen demonstrated. (god, the embarasment...) So that might put them more on the side of Israel. On the other hand, their Prime Minister belongs to the Liberal Democratic Party, and they have a pacifist constitution. Just an idea. I really don't know.
