39. here is why you are not alone.
There is 190 million americans, that share your values, even if at times they are hard to see.

Don't forget about the extra 30 million Canadians like me, who share the democratic Liberal values, just like you!

and I and everyone in this thread loves you, needs your support as well as you need ours.

16. Remember, there are far more of us than we know...
it's part of the strategy of the right to isolate us, keep the media from reporting how many of us there are, keep us feeling alone.

These are scary, scary times, to be sure. We're all in it together.

46. Ohhh my doctor said that. He said that if we feel hopeless about our
situation we get depressed. So to fix it we should find something that we ARE in control of or remind ourselves that our situation is not hopeless. (I might not be explaining it correctly). I remembered it once when I was feeling low and it really worked.

Victor Frankel was kept in a concentration camp during the Holocaust and he said that he realized the one thing they could not take away from him was his thoughts.

37. Thing to do is not catastrofize. What if Alito undoes Roe vs. Wade?
Then the states make laws. So all is not lost. And I don't think this is one the GOP really wants. More likely they will hold off and keep the issue for the 2006 election.

So many things could happen.

This law is about right to privacy. And is not the only way for woman to have reproductive control over their lives. There are other ways. We just need to organize.

43. I felt very alone last night
when I was watching a replay of the Al Gore speech on CSPAN, very excitedly.. with my husband just home from work and watching beside me, and I got up to get a glass of water and he changed the channel to NBA basketball. Ok.. I know Gore isn't everyone's cup of tea but damn that speech was so inspiring. I hadn't been able to catch it during the day. When I asked him to please turn it back he said "I'm tired of politics". I felt alone. So I grabbed the other remote, turned it back and said TOUGH SHIT, go in the other room!

hehe. No I wasn't that bitchy but I did climb his butt a little, and he did go to the other room. There are times when even the ones we love and spend our life with get tired of politics. That is when I turn to DU. I love this community, and I love all of you who give a damn about our country and our future!

Never feel alone!

50. On feeling alone .....
I'm glad that if you were having a rough time, you made a good choice and communicated with people. It is important to have a support system, so to speak, and in today's world, an internet community can actually play as important a role for many people as extended family or neighborhood. So you took a good step, in doing what worked for you.

From the OP and thread, I am unsure of what was going on. "Alone" can mean many different things to people. Included are "afraid," "sad," "hurt," and "lonely." (Some people, myself included, enjoy solitude, and so "alone" has a very different meaning.) Again, it is important to do the things you need to do to take care of yourself .... and the first step - always - is knowing that you are worth it.

Your friend,
Water Man
