World War: How Does This Match Up? |
|
Edited on Sun Jul-23-06 05:22 AM by DistressedAmerican
According to dictionary.com. a world war is defined thusly:
1 entry found for world war. world war
n : a war in which the major nations of the world are involved
Does that mean no world war until some more biggies get into the brawl? China perhaps?
Or do several wars across the middle east involving the US, Israel, Iraq, Lebannon, Afghanistan, and Pakistan (and more indirectly Syria and Iran) qualify?

1. Who knows? Do we call the seven years war a world war? |
|
You know the one you never could get straight in your mind as every country called it some thing else. Queen Ann's or Fr. and Indian? I am sure I am as much in the dark as in high school and grade school but it was all over the place. I can not read any countries history with out that stupid war turning up and spending hours trying to figure out what they are talking about.Back to WW1, Was Asia in WW1? WW2 seemed to be just part of WW1 to me only bigger with more countries. This seems like a world war because so many places world wide are bombed I think. Maybe we should call it a zealots war?

2. Russia has been fighting Islamists... |
|
...in Chechnya for over a decade, and China has an Islamic insurgency in its western frontier. (we just never hear about that!)
The Biggies ARE all involved, and it IS a world war. It's just that the advertisers don't want it called that, because it would be bad for sales...
