I think I'd have a hard time supporting Hillary in the general election
I think she's a good senator, and I think she might very well make a very good president.

That said, it's hard to think of a more divisive candidate we could put up. She will energize the Republican base and guarentee an extra ugly election. That'd be fine if I thought that she was going to get into office and really fight for reform; but she's largely with the Bush administration on his screwing up of the middle east, she's a moderate on almost everything.

And I can't believe she doesn't realize all this (well except the bit about her being a moderate who doesn't really fight for the people). So running is a bit of a selfish act - I would have more respect for her if she would just step aside.

But I doubt she will.

I'd vote for her; but it would be a lukewarm support.

Bryant

8. Same here. I won't vote for another conservative
another corporatist, another war hawk.

If we have to endure 4 more years of GOP mismanagement, so be it. At least more of their chickens will come home to roost without their being able to blame us.

Something has to get through to the DNC that CONSERVATIVES ARE THE PROBLEM and never the solution to anything.

9. Today I heard John effen Dean say that he was a Goldwater
conservative AND that he's left of center in the same ten minutes.

Someone, please! The brakes!

16. We could not SURVIVE 4 more years of GOP looting/pillaging
so, even if it's Hillary, if you DON'T suport the Dem candidate, you support the Grand Old Pillage party...

21. So, please educate me on the difference.
Because no, the party doesn't have my vote on speed dial.

How can Hilary be sold to the South? And, why should the North want to vote for her?

3. Hillary's tactical error
I agree about her being a "good senator", and most US female politicans are on the top of my list of favorites in this day and age. She has dropped to a low priority for me, since she sacrified some sincerity in her initial and vocal support of the Iraq invasion and illegal war.

It's hard for me to forgive her for that, because this war is a wound in my heart and it makes me ashamed of being an American.

I recognize her attempt to retreat from that stance, but she has a this vaguely hawkish stance like some desperate NY street thug who want to be accepted, all of which is unwarranted and unproductive IMHO.

Sure, she scored local points with the 'power that be' in NY, but nationally I think it's going reduce her popularity on the national campaign as a potential prez candidate.

Since the rape of the innocents in Iraqi, I have even less sympathy for a woman who supports this ugly, disgraceful invasion of a sovereign nation which was not before, now or ever going to be a threat to the American people.

11. I'd love to love a woman with power.
Maybe that's some of the anti-Hilary sentiment. She's been a huge disappointment and maybe those of us with expectations feel let down.

I'd hate for 2008 to be the first election where I can't support the Democrat. That would just about kill me. :(

The Republicans would really like to see a repeat of that. Yea, man.

s. Pure and simple. I'm all for a 3rd party option, but not now when everything is so polarized 50/50. I'd take Hillary in a HEARTBEAT over any gop offering ANY DAMN DAY of the week.

But i wouldn't support her in other ways, with my money or my time for example - or my enthusiasm would be less.

This is a big deal. I wouldn't vote for Hillary Clinton if Bill O'Reilly was the opposing candidate. Well.... maybe I'm exaggerating. But, WTF is going on with these Republicrats????

:wow:

25. I'm angry that Dems are taking my support for granted, though.
YEAH, I don't want another republican for president, but I also don't want an almost-republican in office either.

I feel like Hillary et al have realized that so many Dems have basically become AnyoneButBush, so they have the freedom to become republican-lite. Clearly, it's part of their grand strategy (the Dem base will vote Dem no matter what, so they have to go after the fence-sitters) which I understand... but boy I HATE being ignored!!!!!!!!!!!
