Reminder: The Review Page of "An Inconvenient Truth" at Yahoo
I still haven't seen it (for shame), but I just thought it would be a nice tickler to re-read some of these reviews...I think they beat out just about every summer "blockbuster" thus far.

1. That reviewer from the Mooney rag
was not surprisingly a Bushbot. I also disagreed with labeling moviegoers as "voters" by the Chicago paper. This is a wake-up call to CITIZENS of the planet. Al is not running for anything in this venture.

2. Finally got to see it today! You must go see it in the theatre
before it's gone. Everyone should see it and recommend it to others. Then, everyone should go to climatecrisis.net and apply some of the tips to helps save our only planet! kr

3. Yes, I second that !!!... Take as many people with you as you can.
That will be more helpful than you realize. THEN... go to climatecrisis.net... great suggestion, bear425.:applause:

4. Why, thank you, halobeam! I even talked up the film to
our server at the restaurant afterward. She was genuinely interested and said she would go see it. Thoughtful young woman; perhaps there is hope, afterall...

5. One of the remaining right wingers on my veterans mailing list
was taken to see the movie last night. The change is remarkable. He is now questioning bush's motives, and has become a supporter of the Kyoto accord. He even had kind words for Gore.

6. isn't it something, how once people are informed of the facts
most of them drop the baloney about the politics of the issue.. which of course should in all reality be non-existent. Once THAT message gets through, there will be many more jumping on the train to helping our poor planet out.

Fingers crossed.

btw... I heard Gore is training one thousand people to learn the slide show and present it to schools, etc.... it should be happening this summer. Do you have ANY idea about this? I'd LOVE to do this. I don't know anything about the specifics of the project, but I want in, in a very bad way.

Sick, I know, (being what "thrills" me in my own private thoughts).. but I visualize myself presenting this to schools across Long Island. I heard if you can see it, you can do it. I hope that is true. I'm looking for a career to build on, now that my kids are getting older, and I want it to mean everything to me. This would satisfy that part of me, in a very profound way.

What do you think? Any suggestions on how to get this info, if you don't have it? I'm thinking of writing to Gore himself, maybe his staff can direct me?

Thanks for your input

7. keep an eye on that climatecrisis.net website?
I'll bet that's where they're going to post any developments on that training course.

10. it will probably take some time to organize ...
Even if they do it in several smaller groups, they will need to organize facilities, find instructors, etc.

My bet is that Gore will eventually develop a website to go with this effort, because the presenters will need some kind of forum to share their experiences, get updates, and collaborate further. I don't know if they'd expand that climatecrisis.net site or build an entire new one -- but they'll have to start somewhere, so people will know where to go. The Malones (at www.algore.org) will likely be tracking this as well, so that's another URL to monitor.

But I really think you're onto something here. If you have the passion and the enthusiasm, this is a really cool topic. I've been teaching college-level classes on global environmental change since the mid-1990s, and I find I have to keep updating my presentation, several times per year, as the scientific findings and policies are also changing! A lot of people I know say they get burned out teaching other introductory courses, but I have never gotten bored because there is so much new stuff out there. And the learning process keeps me from getting scared or depressed, too.

I have to admit, Gore's graphics are much cooler than mine -- though I have had to come up with some of my own tricks (once I used a flashlight and a TV remote to demonstrate the difference between incoming sunlight and outgoing infrared radiation).

8. Just last week this guy invited Rumsfeld to our army reunion.
Rummy showed. This guy lives down the street from Rummy and I believe knows him.

If for some reason you can't help out that way, there are plenty ways to fight the good fight. You can help elect environmental candidates or get active in an environmental group.

do something.
