2. There's something about the term...
" one of Italy's reputedly most pious financiers " that has an oxymoronic ring about it.

4. A hundred years in sack cloth and ashes, on their knees before the
Mother Goddess, having distributed all of their ill-gotten gains to the poor, could not erase the crimes of the Catholic Church hierarchy and their Opus Dei brethren. A thousand years, maybe. And even then, they would not have earned the right to call themselves followers of Jesus.

Who knows what tangled, corrupt mess this poor slaughtered man got himself into? His death is pitiable and sickening. I feel sorrow for him and for any who loved him. But from what I know of Vatican/Opus Dei financial scandal, they set the context for this sad tale. Greed, elitism, fascism. In a church supposedly devoted to humble, penniless Jesus, who only said, at every opportunity, "Love they neighbor. Give all you have to the poor." What a horror they have made of it all! Down on your knees, gentlemen! Penitence is due.

5. More Anti Catholic From This Branch Of The KKK
About once every 2 weeks you'll see this subset of the KKK come up with its anti-catholic bullshit about a perfectly legitimate organization called Opus Dei.

Opus Dei is a loose federation of devoted Catholics who have decided to devote the acts of their life to Christ. They do so by good works in the name of the savior. Their words, not mine. So that's what Opus Dei is. However there are clowns around who's hatred for the Catholic church is so great that they will tell you Opus Dei is something much different. In their distorted notions - similar in every way to the KKK - they seem to believe that Opus Dei is the zenith of all evil. Hit men and plots, all directed by the Pope, whomever the Pope might be at the moment, are the stuff of Opus Dei, if you are to believe these hurtful lunatics.

But don't believe me. Go look around for yourself. You'll find lots of hate for Opus Dei, but unless you unearth something I was unable to find you're never going to find anything sinister what so ever about the organization, its members, or their (notice I said "their" referring to the members, the organization itself has only one goal - good works) principals or deeds.

So to finish, this is just hatred folks. Its hatred with a beard. Its been around for years. Its just as unfounded now as it ever has been. As I said, go look for yourself.

6. Amazing!
I'm almost glad to be living on Bush's Fantasy Island, if Italy were my only other option.

7. Heard about this last week.
A family friend of someone I know.

I was fairly blown away by the initial description of events but had no idea it was so high profile until I just saw this now.
